Job Description
Work to Protect Save the Bees in our Canvassing and Field Manager Positions Almost a quarter of bumblebee species are at risk of going extinct, and pesticides called neonics are a big reason why. Companies are coating seeds with neonics, so the pesticide grows in the plant and can contaminate the soil. One neonic seed is enough to kill 80,000 bees. Environment Maryland is working to pass a bill to ban seeds coated with this bee-killing pesticide. We are hiring canvassers and field managers in our Washington, D.C. office to educate the public about the issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence decision-makers. As a canvasser this summer you will: Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community Earn leadership opportunities, supervising and managing staff in the field Gain the experience and connections needed to launch your career in nonprofit and policy work We are looking for: We are seeking hard-working individuals with good communication skills and a passion for social change.
