About the Internship The Stanford Asian Liver Center (ALC) is seeking motivated and compassionate current college students or recent graduates to join our Youth and Community Outreach Internship program for the 2026-2027 academic year. Interns will take an active role in raising awareness about hepatitis B screening and treatment, with the broader mission of reducing liver disease and liver cancer deaths and eliminating the stigma surrounding chronic hepatitis B — a long-neglected epidemic disproportionately impacts Asian communities across the U.S. and worldwide. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a real impact while building valuable professional skills in public health, community organizing, and health equity advocacy. What You'll Do Help initiate, plan, and execute youth, community, and corporate outreach initiatives. Represent the ALC at outreach events, both independently and alongside fellow interns and volunteers. Collaborate with staff and peers to develop innovative strategies for addressing Asian health disparities. Participate in weekly one-hour intern meetings held via Zoom or in person. Engage with ALC staff and fellow interns through on-site hours one weekday morning or afternoon per week. What We're Looking For We are seeking candidates who are: Self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative and ownership of responsibilities Resourceful and adaptable, with a willingness to learn new skills Creative and innovative, able to think outside the box A strong team player and/or leader Passionate about addressing health disparities in Asian communities Able to commit 8 hours per week, including one on-site weekday session Willing to participate in outreach events independently or as part of a team What You'll Gain By the end of the internship, you will have developed: Leadership and community organizing skills A deeper understanding of Asian health disparities and public health strategies Hands-on experience in grassroots outreach and health advocacy A professional network within the Stanford health and research community Insight into the public health challenge of chronic hepatitis B and its impact on underserved communities. Internship Details Eligibility Current college students or recent graduates Duration September 8, 2026 - June 3, 2027 Time Commitment ~10 hours per week Stipend Interns are eligible to receive a performance-based stipend of up to $2,000 upon successful completion of the internship.
