As a Commercial Energy Consultant , you will focus entirely on early-stage commercial outreach, project qualification, and on-site documentation. You will build relationships with local commercial and industrial property owners, gather key site information, and capture ground-based drone photography to build project development packages. You focus on relationship-building and intake—our engineering, installation, and financing partners handle all technical designs, electrical work, construction, and final proposals.

Key Responsibilities Commercial Outreach & Relationship Building:

Identify and engage commercial property owners, business executives, and decision-makers across Oregon to introduce clean energy and battery storage opportunities.

Site Qualification & Intake:

Gather basic property details, electrical utility bills, and site usage information to evaluate prospective projects.

Ground-Based Drone Assessment:

Safely operate a personal drone from ground level to capture clear aerial photos of roof planes, roof conditions, and shading context (no ladder climbing or roof access required).

Package Documentation:

Accurately document customer interactions, site photos, and utility info into the Solar Fellows Leads Portal to build complete project development packages.

Appointment Coordination:

Help schedule follow-up proposal presentations between commercial decision-makers and senior project stewards.

Qualifications & Requirements No Prior Solar Experience Required:

We hire for drive, professionalism, communication skills, and reliability.

Location:

Must reside in or be willing to travel throughout Oregon.

Drone Equipment & Licensing:

Must own (or acquire) and operate a drone capable of taking high-resolution aerial photographs.

Driver's License & Transportation:

Must maintain a valid driver's license, a reliable personal vehicle, and active automobile liability insurance.

Business Setup:

As an independent contractor, you maintain your own basic business setup, tax filings (W-9), and general liability insurance.

Technology:

Smartphone or tablet for logging field updates and uploading documentation on the go. What We Offer & Compensation Structure As an Independent Contractor (1099), you enjoy complete freedom over your schedule, route planning, and work-life balance. You earn income through a multi-tiered commission structure:

Opportunity & Pre-Development Commissions:

Earn upfront payouts (up to $1,000 per project ) upon submitting accepted site survey documentation or signed authorization packages.

Success Fee Commissions:

Earn 15% of the total Company Success Fee (with a $1,000 minimum per qualifying closed deal) when an installer or partner moves a project forward.

Flexibility & Autonomy:

You decide which routes to take, which businesses to visit, and how many hours you put in each week.

What You Don't Have To Do No Climbing Roofs:

All roof photography is performed safely from the ground using your drone or approved public imagery.

No Trades or Electrical Work:

You will never touch electrical panels, open internal covers, or perform construction/trade work.

No Mandatory Shifts or Quotas:
