WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provides direct services to clients seeking assistance from the agency's Energy Assistance programs, which provide benefit determination, education, and information. Encourages client self-sufficiency by providing advocacy, information, and referrals to Opportunity Council and other social service programs. Serves as a key link between clients and community resources and procedures. Performs a variety of moderately complex clerical and administrative functions, including client intake, scheduling, accurately calculating income levels, eligibility determination, data entry, and providing exceptional customer service.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
WORK LOCATION
This position will be working primarily out of the Oak Harbor office but will be supervised by Whatcom County leadership. Travel to Bellingham for training and meetings is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides scheduled direct services that include eligibility screening for multiple services, determining financial eligibility, problem solving, needs assessment, referrals, explanation of agency programs and services, and problem solving. Provides information and referral to clients regarding agency programs and other community agencies and resources. Performs moderately complex data entry including client information. Advocates for clients to maintain utility service and/or heating fuel supply in home. Processes information related to clients, which is confidential and maintains confidentiality of all data in accordance with agency, state, and federal guidelines.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
High-school diploma or GED. Two years relevant experience. Valid Washington State driver's license and five-year driving history within Opportunity Council's Auto Insurance Standards. We place a strong value in hiring individuals with lived experiences of, poverty and/or homelessness or who have previously participated in Opportunity Council programs or other social services.
