Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a Communication & Membership Director that is responsible for the growth, engagement, and retention of Tampa Yacht and Country Club's membership. This leadership role oversees all aspects of the membership lifecycle; from prospect development and onboarding to ongoing member satisfaction, communication and retention strategies. The Communication & Membership Director serves as a primary ambassador of TYCC and oversees all member-facing communications, digital platforms, social media channels, publications, and marketing initiatives while ensuring that the club's values, traditions, and standards of excellence are upheld while fostering a welcoming and vibrant member community. Key Responsibilities Member Communications & Engagement Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy that supports member engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Oversee all member communication channels, including email campaigns, newsletters, website content, mobile applications, text messaging platforms, and printed publications. Create and maintain communication calendars to ensure timely and consistent messaging. Develop new communication avenues and technologies to improve member awareness and engagement. Manage production and distribution of membership communications including newsletters, email campaigns, and promotional materials. Includes monthly Yacht Clubber and quarterly or bi-annual member events. Includes management of mailing of items to members. Partner with department heads to gather and communicate relevant Club information. Ensure communications are accurate, timely, engaging, and aligned with Club objectives. Support onboarding communications for members and promote participation in Club programs and events. Social Media & Digital Marketing Create, manage, and monitor all official Club social media accounts and digital platforms. Develop and execute social media content strategies that promote Club events, amenities, programs, traditions, and member experiences. Manage production of engaging content including photography, video, graphics, and written posts. Monitor social media engagement and respond appropriately to comments, messages, and inquiries in accordance with Club policies. Maintain content calendars for social media and digital marketing initiatives. Track and analyze social media performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement to management and the Communications Committee. Ensure all digital content reflects the Club's brand standards and reputation. Stay current on social media trends, technologies, and best practices. Serve as the guardian of Tampa Yacht and Country Club's brand identity and messaging. Manage relationships with outside marketing, graphic design, photography, and media vendors as needed. Oversee the Club website and member portal, ensuring content remains accurate, current, and engaging. Membership Administration Develop and execute strategic membership recruitment plans aligned with the club's goals and capacity. Manage the full membership sales cycle, including prospect inquiries, tours, follow-up, and application processing. Maintain an active pipeline of qualified prospects through networking, referrals, and community engagement. Oversee tracking and reporting membership metrics including applications, approvals, resignations, and waitlists. Ensure compliance with all bylaws, membership categories, and admission procedures. Design and oversee a comprehensive onboarding program to welcome and integrate new members. Coordinate new member orientations, welcome events, and introductions to club leadership. Maintain consistent communication with new members during their first year to encourage engagement. Retention & Satisfaction Develop member retention strategies to strengthen loyalty and long-term engagement. Monitor member feedback, surveys, and usage trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Address and resolve member concerns promptly and professionally. Administration & Reporting Oversee membership reports prepared by Reception/Membership Assistant. Monitor membership counts relative to cap limits and strategic goals. Assist in annual budget preparation for membership initiatives and events. Lead and act as liaison for Christmas Boutique, Cotilion and other member events as designated. Maintain confidentiality of member records and sensitive information. Maintain accurate membership records and database systems. Community & Club Leadership Serve as a key ambassador of Tampa Yacht and Country Club within the local community. Attend club events and functions to build relationships and enhance visibility. Support club committees related to membership development and engagement. May require attendance and/or management of the events. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in membership sales, hospitality, private clubs, or related leadership roles. Private club experience strongly preferred. Proven success in sales, relationship management, and customer service. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills. Strong organizational and database management skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion at all times. Occasional evening and weekend availability required.
