Message from the President & CEO The Membership & Development Director at The Chamber of Medford & Jackson County plays a vital leadership role within our organization. This position collaborates closely with staff and myself to enhance our membership base, unlock new revenue streams, and ensure our team provides outstanding value to our members and the dynamic business community we serve. We are in search of an innovative, relationship-focused team member who excels in membership growth and retention, drives sponsorship and non-dues revenue, and effectively works with staff and stakeholders to grow The Chamber. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on strategic planning, sales, achieving measurable goals, building robust partnerships, and representing the Chamber as a leading organization throughout the region. This position requires a strong ability to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders and fellow team members alike. This is a fast-paced environment, with dedicated volunteers, including board members, ready to assist. The demands of this position are significant, yet the rewards can be profound. While our office operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., this leadership role often requires commitment beyond regular hours, including early mornings and evenings, to support the vibrant, fast-paced environment of the Chamber and its members. Membership & Development Director Summary The Chamber of Medford & Jackson County is on the lookout for a dynamic and exceptionally skilled professional to take on the role of Membership & Development Director. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this pivotal position will spearhead efforts to advance the Chamber's mission by driving membership growth, enhancing member engagement, and creating innovative revenue development initiatives. This role encompasses significant responsibilities, including the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of initiatives aimed at membership recruitment, retention, sponsorship sales, advertising, and other revenue objectives. The Director will serve as an ambassador for the Chamber within the community, cultivating strong relationships with members and community leaders, while ensuring that our organization consistently delivers tangible value to its membership
Key Responsibilities:
Membership Recruitment and Sales Personally present information about The Chamber's programs, policies, and benefits to non-members throughout Jackson County, endeavoring to obtain their membership in The Chamber. Develop and implement creative strategies to recruit new members, targeting diverse businesses and sectors. Ensure new members are accurately represented in Chamber products and complete a success plan based on meetings with new members and clearly outline goals. Provide member orientations that demonstrate to new members the benefits, opportunities, discounts, and programs available through Chamber membership. Work with the marketing team to create targeted outreach campaigns and promotional materials to drive membership growth. Membership Retention and Engagement Lead a strategic membership growth and retention plan with a five-year target. Keep current with members through touch programs and new methods of retention. Attend selected Chamber functions where members gain benefits. Develop, implement, and track a retention program for first-year members and develop similar strategies for multi-year members. Develop and expand retention methods. Create creative opportunities for members to expand value. Maintain and annually verify accurate member data and website listings using the Chamber membership database. Be the staff liaison to the membership action team. Advertising, Sponsorship Sales & Revenue Development Responsible for sales of Chamber memberships, website advertising space, and Chamber publications and Chairman Circles. Promote and manage advertising sales, including the development of sales materials, competitive advertising rates, membership trade agreements and all contract renewals and invoices. Secure sponsorships for Chamber programs and events, working with the Communications & Programs Coordinator. Develop a strategic plan for Chairman's Circle and Chamber Investors. Identify, develop, and implement new revenue streams that support the Chamber's mission. Conduct revenue analysis and budgeting to support decision-making and financial planning. Community Engagement and Outreach Occasionally represent The Chamber at business, civic, and networking events to promote visibility and partnership opportunities. Collaborate with community stakeholders and committees to align Chamber initiatives with regional needs and interests. Serve as a primary contact for Chamber members to enhance their experience and maximize their return on investment. Execute personalized follow-ups and retention plans, particularly for first-year members. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in membership development, sales, fundraising, business development, or comparable leadership roles within the private, nonprofit, and/or public sectors. Demonstrated success in selling advertising, sponsorships, or similar fundraising initiatives. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a collaborative management style. This is a team-oriented organization; collaboration is key. Experience in project management and cross-functional team coordination. Proficient in marketing, advertising and development tools, understanding industry evolution is constant. Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver measurable results. Passion for community building and dedication to The Chamber's mission. Requirements Requires some domestic air travel and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. for event setup and materials. Requires the ability to walk up and down stairs. Must be able to sit for 50%, stand for 25%, and walk for 25% of the workday. Availability for occasional evenings and weekends. This is not a supervisory role; there are no direct reports to this position.
