This role is responsible for inspecting, sorting, cleaning, pricing, and preparing donated merchandise for sale while maintaining productivity, safety, and quality standards. This position is responsible for sorting, inspecting, cleaning, pricing, and preparing merchandise while maintaining efficiency, organization, and workplace safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Merchandise Processing Move, sort, clean, and prepare donated merchandise for sale. Inspect donations for quality, damage, condition, and salability. Price merchandise according to established best practices. Maintain efficient production standards and departmental goals. Seek assistance from peers and supervisors when evaluating merchandise value. Operations & Productivity Assist with daily opening and closing procedures. Accurately sign in and out using designated electronic systems. Maintain organized workflow and productivity throughout the shift. Adapt to changing priorities and operational needs. Support store and production operations as assigned. Serve as a substitute driver for agency vehicles when needed to support operational and program needs. Safety & Housekeeping Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Follow all safety procedures and avoid actions that place yourself or others at risk. Report suspicious activity, safety concerns, or operational issues immediately. Utilize equipment safely and responsibly. Team Participation Work independently while maintaining high organizational standards. Collaborate effectively with coworkers and management. Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Interact positively with donors, customers, volunteers, and coworkers from diverse backgrounds and abilities. Qualifications Required Eligible to work in the United States. Valid California Driver's License required. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and be eligible for coverage under Alpha Resource Center's vehicle insurance policy. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum one year of retail, warehouse, production, or related experience. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to operate equipment necessary to perform job duties. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Preferred Experience with donation processing, thrift retail, warehousing, or merchandising. Bilingual English/Spanish skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong attention to detail. Ability to assess merchandise quality and condition. Effective time-management and prioritization skills. Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Flexibility to work varied schedules and assignments when business needs require. Physical Requirements Ability to continuously stand, walk, bend, squat, and move throughout the workday. Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds without assistance. Frequent use of hands and arms to handle merchandise and equipment. Ability to operate computers and related equipment when required. Ability to read labels, pricing information, and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone. Work Environment This position works primarily in an indoor processing facility. The environment includes moderate to loud noise levels and a combination of natural and artificial lighting.
