Dwyer Marble & Stone Supply

Merchandise Coordinator

Job Description

Department:
Tile Division, Merchandising Reports to: Material Design Specialist Position type: Hourly, Full-time Company Overview Dwyer Marble & Stone is a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the Midwest since 1995. We are a leading importer and wholesale distributor of premium natural stone, quartz, porcelain slabs, tile, mosaics, and pavers, sourcing products from around the world to support residential and commercial projects across the United States and Canada. Our commitment to exceptional quality, service, and team dedication drives our continued growth and success. Summary The Tile Merchandising Coordinator owns the physical and systematic management of Dwyer's tile products in the warehouse — inventory accuracy, stocking, replenishment, sample fulfillment, sample merchandising, sample cutting, and the day-to-day maintenance that keeps the division sellable and shippable. This person is the connective tissue between Material Design, Merchandising, and the Showroom— ensuring product is where it needs to be, counted correctly, and flagged to Purchasing for reorder before it runs short. This is a hands-on warehouse role: regular tile handling and cutting on a tile saw is core part of the work. Key Responsibilities 1. Physical Inventory & Stocking Receive, inspect, and stock incoming tile products, samples, and collateral. Own warehouse organization for the tile division: racking, pallet layout, backstock organization, and collection-level storage. Maintain and enforce a consistent labeling system. Plan and optimize warehouse layout in coordination with the Operations Director as the division grows; flag capacity constraints proactively. Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile physical stock against system records. 2. Replenishment & Maintenance Own replenishment for tile products and samples — manage reorder points, backstock triggers, and reorder reporting. Monitor stock levels and initiate reorder requests before shortfalls affect sales or sampling. Maintain the ongoing health of the division's inventory: rotating stock, retiring discontinued items, and keeping storage organized as collections are added. 3. Sample Library & Fulfillment Manage the tile sample library — sample inventory, cut pieces, loose samples, and sales rep pitch kits. Regularly handle and cut tile on a tile saw to produce cut samples and display materials — accurately and to spec.
Own the sample request-to-fulfillment workflow:
intake, picking, packing, shipping, and documentation. Fulfill rep, branch, and regional sample needs (e.g., Grand Rapids, Indiana), including new launch shipments and replacement inventory. Keep pitch kits and rep kits stocked, current, and launch ready. Build and maintain point-of-sale (POS) merchandising displays for the tile showroom with direction from Material Design Specialist. 4. Inventory Systems Working closely with Purchasing, maintain accuracy in Navigator (inventory tracking, item location, reorder capability). Ensure item locations, counts, and status are current and trustworthy for quoting, ordering, and sampling. 5. Process & SOP Ownership Own, document, and continuously improve the tile division's inventory SOPs — replenishment, backstock, sample fulfillment, and warehouse communication. Build repeatable processes that scale as collections are added, reducing reliance on any one person's knowledge. Serve as the single point of accountability for "where is it / how much do we have / when do we reorder?" 6. Cross-Functional Coordination Provide advance-readiness input for new collection launches so inventory, storage, and sample stock are prepared before go-live. Communicate stock status, incoming shipments, and constraints clearly to stakeholders. Qualifications Required 2+ years in warehouse operations, inventory control, or supply chain, ideally with physical product and SKU-level management. Hands-on experience with inventory management systems and cycle counting; comfort keeping data accurate across systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail — this role is judged on inventory accuracy. Comfortable operating a tile saw and doing regular, hands-on tile cutting and handling. This is a physical, get-dirty warehouse role — expect dust, lifting, and repetitive cutting as part of the daily work. Ability to lift and move products and manage a physical warehouse environment. Clear communicator who can coordinate across departments. Preferred Experience with tile, stone, or building-material products (formats, packaging, breakage, and handling considerations). Familiarity with comparable inventory/sample-tracking platforms. Experience building or documenting SOPs and replenishment processes from scratch. Exposure to sample-library or showroom-support operations. Exposure to, or curiosity about, inventory automation and barcoding systems. Join us as a Tile Merchandising Coordinator to play a vital role in shaping our product offerings while advancing your career in a vibrant industry. We value innovation, teamwork, and a proactive approach. If you're ready to make an impact in the world of surface materials, we want to hear from you!
