Mississippi Marketplace is looking for a creative, enthusiastic, and customer-focused person to join our team! We're a small, family-operated business in historic downtown Hannibal with the feel of an old-time general store—and a whole lot of personality. We carry specialty foods, candy, kitchen gadgets, home décor, gifts, Missouri-made products, souvenirs, seasonal merchandise, and plenty of things you didn't know you needed until you saw them. We're looking for someone who loves making things look good, creating displays that tell a story, and making customers feel welcome. What You'll Do Create eye-catching, creative displays that make merchandise fun and shoppable Build seasonal and themed displays using everything from specialty foods and candy to kitchenware and home décor Refresh displays, shelves, and product presentations as seasons, holidays, promotions, and new merchandise change Design and maintain our retail window displays Help keep the store looking fresh, organized, stocked, and inviting Greet customers and create a friendly, welcoming shopping experience Learn our products and help customers find something they'll love Answer questions, make recommendations, and sample products with customers Cross-sell and suggest products that pair well together Receive, price, package, stock, and organize merchandise Help with returns, special offers, and promotions Provide customer feedback and merchandising ideas to management Work with management on holidays, events, and new ways to merchandise the store Help with light cleaning and the everyday tasks that keep a small retail store running smoothly We're Looking For Someone Who Is Creative and naturally drawn to design, color, and presentation Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable talking with customers Someone who notices when a display could be better—and wants to fix it Organized, dependable, and able to work independently Comfortable being on your feet and moving merchandise throughout the store A good communicator who enjoys being part of a team Sales-minded and interested in helping the store succeed Flexible and able to juggle different tasks throughout the day Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, especially during holidays and busy weekends Willing to learn our products and become part of what makes Mississippi Marketplace special Experience in visual merchandising, retail, home décor, interior decorating, or sales is a plus, but it isn't required. We're more interested in someone with a great attitude, creativity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
