OVERVIEW

The Senior Merchant is a strategic product leader responsible for shaping and executing merchandising strategies across seasonal categories, core collections, and long-range product roadmaps. This role combines strong product instincts with commercial analysis to build compelling assortments, improve business performance, and keep cross-functional teams aligned. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating with autonomy, making confident product decisions, and presenting a clear point of view and recommendations to senior leadership.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Product and Merchandising Strategy Own merchandising strategy for seasonal roadmaps, aligned with company goals and the Roller Rabbit brand vision. Translate business objectives into clear category, delivery, SKU, silhouette, color, and price-point strategies. Partner with the Senior Director of Merchandising on assortment architecture, category priorities, pricing, margin, and growth opportunities. Bring a strong product point of view to the development process and make confident, timely assortment and design decisions with appropriate autonomy. Use customer insights, market trends, competitive research, and historical performance to identify opportunities and guide product direction. Provide competitive analysis across price points, silhouettes, fabrications, and category to keep the assortment sharp and on trend. Own the ongoing strategy and evolution of core styles and colorways. Business Performance and Reporting Lead weekly and monthly business reviews, clearly communicating performance, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions. Build and present seasonal and category hindsights that translate results into strategies for future assortments, buys, pricing, and product lifecycle decisions. Analyze sales, sell-through, inventory, margin, and productivity to identify growth opportunities and areas of underperformance. Partner with Buying, Planning and Allocation on seasonal buys, reorders, and inventory actions. Present merchandising strategies, performance insights, and recommendations to senior leadership with clarity and confidence. Cross-Functional and Team Leadership Serve as a key merchandising liason to Design, Production/Product Development, Planning, Marketing, Retail, providing clear direction from concept through commercialization. Keep teams aligned to product roadmaps, milestones, SKU targets, and key decisions while proactively surfacing risks. Collaborate closely with Planning and Allocation, Marketing, Ecommerce & Retail to support product launches and commercial priorities. Develop and share product knowledge with store and ecommerce teams to support sell-through and a consistent customer experience. Manage, coach, and develop one direct report, setting clear priorities and building their product, analytical, and operational capabilities. Maintain accurate, organized merchandising data and tools while driving improvements to team processes, calendars, and reporting.

WHAT YOU BRING

Bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising, business, marketing, or a related field preferred. 6-8+ years of experience in fashion merchandising, buying, or a related retail role, with increasing ownership of categories and assortments. Prior experience managing, coaching, or formally developing at least one team member. Proven ability to develop assortment strategies and drive sales, margin, and inventory productivity. Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to turn data into clear recommendations and actions. Strong product instincts and taste level, with an understanding of fashion trends, customer behavior, and brand-building. Well versed in fabrics, fit, and construction, with a passion for product and brand storytelling. Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional and senior stakeholders. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Shopify, Report Pundit, and NetSuite is a plus.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $120,000 base, commensurate with experience, plus performance bonus. Based at our NYC headquarters on a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office / 2 days remote).
