In this role, you will be responsible for marketing grain, seeking out new customers, and building relationships with both customers and suppliers through ongoing communication. This position requires a fast-paced individual who is detail-oriented and possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Your primary focus will be on grain origination and marketing within the Milbank trade territory. The position is on-site, located in Twin Brooks, SD.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze markets; keep up to date on bids, trends, futures, changes, markets and positions Maintain market and customer potential profile Establish and maintain customer and supplier relationships Seek out new and prospective customers Maintain grain contracts (i.e. basis fix, minimum price, hedge-to-arrive, etc…) Assist with grain shipment coordination for internal and farm to plant efficiency Marketing information meetings
  • Help to schedule, invite and conduct marketing meetings at least quarterly.
At all times maintain a non-speculative position for all grain sourced and when working with individual patrons on marketing programs. Comply with Company Policy on open grain position Support and enforce the Company Credit policy Other duties as assigned, for example, operation of scale, help with train loading, working with grain operations Employee attitude, work ethic, and attendance should reflect a positive company image to customers and fellow employees, promoting exceptional service and teamwork.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered. Minimum of two years of experience in grain merchandising, grain origination, agricultural marketing, commodity trading, or a related agricultural field. Working knowledge of grain merchandising principles, including cash grain markets, futures markets, basis, hedging, grain contracts, and risk management strategies. Ability to obtain and maintain a Series 3 Commodity Broker's License Strong understanding of agricultural production practices, grain quality factors, and market dynamics. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships. Strong negotiation, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and make sound business decisions in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn grain merchandising, accounting, and business management software. Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the trade area as needed.
Work Schedule:
Enjoy a standard Monday to Friday schedule (8:00 AM
  • 5:00 PM), with extended seasonal hours and the possibility of overtime.

Competitive Compensation:
Wage Range:
$55,0000 to $120,000 / year and depends on previous experience. Plus, we're offering a $500 sign-on bonus to welcome you aboard!
