Non-exempt Job Description Territory includes: Multiple stores The merchandising supervisor will act as a field representative for Masterpiece Flower Company LLC. The purpose of this position is to manage the merchandising staff as well as to create and maintain great looking plant displays at our customer's location. This job is a merchandising position and requires the merchandising supervisor to perform physical tasks as needed to maintain fresh product, displays and fit planned programs and set integrity. Order deliveries and sales promotions will require your assistance. Merchandising Supervisors role is to also maintain professional and courteous communication with store associates, merchandisers and the Masterpiece Flower Company staff. This is a full time position, dependent on market needs and/or sales management's discretion. Position will involve merchandising as well as the supervision of a merchandising team for a pre-determined territory (Travel time and mileage are compensated) Position also includes HR requirements such as recruiting, onboarding, training and coordinating disciplinary actions and/or terminations with the HR department as required. Merchandising supervisors are responsible for creating and communicating work schedules for their employees. Work schedules must adhere to the merchandising budget approved by the sales manager at Masterpiece Flower Company. Supervisory Responsibilities Position requires supervision over 2-5 merchandisers. This will include interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling. Including and not limited to staff administration of seasonal personnel. Supervisors may be expected to work over the average 40 hours per week during peak times (April-June and November15-December 20). During these peak seasons working on the weekend may be required. In addition, some positions require working floral holiday including: Valentine's Day and Easter (this applies to any merchandising supervisor with floral responsibilities) Compensation Hourly rate with time and a half paid over 40 hours/week. Supervisor Responsibilities The supervisors are indispensable to effective loss control because they have direct contact with employees and immediate control in their areas of responsibility. Because of the close contact with employees, the success of the safety program is heavily influenced by the interest and efforts of the supervisor. Supervisors with good safety attitudes will convince their employees that safety is a necessary part of their work at Masterpiece Flower. Supervisors must understand their responsibility for safe working conditions and safe work practices in their departments. Supervisor's loss control responsibilities and duties are to: 1. Select employees who are mentally and physically qualified for the work they are to perform. 2. Give detailed job performance instructions and explain hazards and safety precautions in assigning workers to jobs. 3. Provide workers with safe tools and equipment to perform their jobs. 4. Ensure personal protective equipment is available and used where/when required. 5. Plan work to ensure workers, materials and equipment are available to perform the job safely. 6. Actively participate in loss control promotional activities. 7. Personally supervise all hazardous work or work that is new and unusual. 8. Regularly inspect and maintain physical conditions to insure good housekeeping practices are followed and that mechanical failures do not occur. 9. Personally investigate all accidents and correct any unsafe practices or conditions to prevent re-occurrence. 10. Constantly observe work procedures in order to detect and correct any unsafe practices and conditions and develop improved methods. 11. Promptly report all accidents or near misses that occur in their departments. 12. Ensure that an injured employee receives prompt first aid or medical treatment. Employees are empowered to stop work if unsafe conditions exist. Must report the unsafe condition to supervisor.
