Job Description

Parts Advisor Job Purpose:
Support dealership parts operations by assisting customers, technicians, and dealership personnel with automotive parts selection, ordering, inventory management, and parts-related customer service. The Parts Advisor is responsible for maintaining efficient parts department operations while delivering exceptional customer service and supporting dealership sales and service objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Parts Sales Assist walk-in customers, technicians, and dealership personnel with selecting and purchasing automotive parts and accessories Provide professional, friendly, and efficient customer service during all customer interactions Answer incoming phone calls and assist customers with pricing, availability, orders, and parts-related questions Recommend companion parts, accessories, service items, and promotional products when appropriate Maintain strong product knowledge regarding parts, accessories, manufacturer updates, and dealership inventory Support dealership customer satisfaction and retention through timely and accurate customer service Maintain professionalism and composure while assisting multiple customers in a fast-paced environment Inventory & Parts Operations Pull, package, stage, and distribute parts orders accurately and efficiently Determine availability of parts not currently in stock and assist with emergency or special-order requests Order parts from vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers as required Notify customers and dealership personnel when ordered parts have arrived Assist with maintaining accurate inventory records, bin locations, and parts organization Monitor and maintain "will call," special order, and backorder files Assist with shipping, receiving, stocking, and inventory control procedures as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, counters, shelves, and parts storage areas Administrative & Operational Responsibilities Utilize dealership management systems (DMS), inventory software, manufacturer catalogs, and related systems effectively Assist Service Technicians and Service Advisors with identifying and obtaining required repair parts Set up orders for shipment, delivery, customer pickup, or internal dealership use Participate in dealership meetings, training sessions, and manufacturer training programs as required Follow dealership policies, procedures, operational standards, and safety requirements Uphold confidentiality regarding customer and dealership information Maintain professional working relationships with customers, vendors, coworkers, and management Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Job Qualifications:
Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and time management skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Professional appearance and positive attitude Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment Strong customer service and problem-solving skills Basic computer proficiency required Ability to learn and utilize dealership management systems (DMS), inventory systems, and manufacturer parts catalogs Dependable attendance and punctuality required Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding customer and dealership information Ability to follow dealership policies, procedures, and safety standards Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require Preferred Qualifications Previous automotive parts sales or parts counter experience preferred Previous automotive dealership experience preferred Experience using dealership management systems (DMS), inventory systems, and manufacturer parts catalogs preferred Knowledge of automotive parts, accessories, and repair terminology preferred Experience working in high-volume dealership or parts department environments preferred Experience with inventory control, stocking, shipping, and receiving procedures preferred Bilingual communication skills are a plus Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, and work in various physical positions Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull automotive parts and related materials up to 50 pounds Ability to occasionally lift and move heavier items with assistance or proper equipment Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership and warehouse environment Ability to regularly use hands and fingers for computer, inventory, packaging, and operational functions Ability to regularly use computers, phones, printers, scanners, and other office equipment Ability to safely operate dealership vehicles when necessary Ability to regularly perform repetitive hand, arm, and body movements during inventory and parts-related activities The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
