Job Description
Job Summary The Customer Account Manager is the operational backbone of the customer relationship. You are the customer's primary day-to-day point of contact and the hub connecting our purchasing and supplier management teams with our outside sales representatives. You will own the full life of an order — from quote and entry through delivery, returns, and reporting — and be the person our customers trust for fast, accurate answers, data, and reports. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-obsessed, comfortable living in Excel and large data sets, and energized by juggling many moving pieces while communicating clearly with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. We are a family-owned business and are dedicated to maintaining the culture that makes family-owned businesses the best place in America to work. Responsibilities Order management
- Enter, acknowledge, and maintain customer purchase orders in the ERP system with a high standard of accuracy (part numbers, pricing, dates, terms, and compliance flags). Customer service
- Serve as the customer's go-to contact for order status, expedites, reschedules, tracking information, documentation, and general service requests — responding quickly and professionally. Backlog & on-time delivery
- Partner daily with purchasing / supplier management to ensure orders ship on time with the correct items; proactively flag risks and communicate recovery plans to customers and outside sales. Quotes & RFQs
- Coordinate customer RFQs between the internal purchasing team and outside sales managers; track quotes through to award and follow up to win the business. Forecast management
- Load, maintain, and analyze customer forecasts spanning thousands of line items; reconcile forecast vs. backlog vs. inventory and highlight gaps or excess. Crosses & alternates
- Manage part crosses, substitutions, and equivalent components; work with suppliers, purchasing, and customers to validate acceptable alternates. Inventory & reporting
- Monitor aging and excess inventory; prepare and deliver regular inventory, backlog, and open-order reports for customers. Lead-time awareness
- Track supplier lead times and market conditions; keep customers and outside sales informed of changes that affect their programs. Returns & issue resolution
- Facilitate returns (RMAs) and customer complaints from initiation through credit or replacement, coordinating with quality, purchasing, and the warehouse. Compliance support
- Support export control (ITAR), AS9120 traceability, certificates of conformance, and related documentation requirements on customer orders. Data integrity
- Maintain accurate customer records, pricing, and contact data in the ERP/CRM; keep account files audit-ready. Business reviews
- Prepare materials for and participate in customer meetings and business reviews, presenting performance data, open issues, and opportunities.
