The Prince George's County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Automotive Parts Specialist I/II ( Parts Specialist 1A ) grade A12/14 position, in the Fleet Management Division. About the Position This is an entry-level work in the identification, research, ordering, issuance, receipt, storage and security of vehicular parts, heavy equipment, and general supplies at a county garage facility. This position functions independently due to the nature of the garage operation. Work is performed under close supervision of the Supply Technician, Garage Supervisor or the assistant. Upon the satisfactory completion of a probationary period, entry level incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the II full performance level at management's discretion. About the Agency The Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George's County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. We make government operations operate better for the government. Identifies, locates, and issues vehicle parts and supplies to as requested; verifies the need and makes necessary records of parts and supplies. Processes repair orders to ensure proper charging of parts and supplies for user billing. Maintains continuous inventory of parts, tires and supplies stocked in the shop; establishes minimum/maximum stock levels, standby and seasonal stock levels; reviews inventory turnover and adjusts accordingly. Gives verbal and written reports to supply and shop manager concerning inventory, quality of parts, and vendor problems; handles complaints and makes exchanges and adjustments with parts and supplies as authorized. Conducts monthly inventory and purchase reconciliations. Reviews and submits necessary information to the County Purchase Card Coordinator. Ensures work is accomplished in compliance with administrative and safety rules and regulations. Willingly and cooperatively performs other tasks and duties assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the position description, however, are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. One (1) year experienced receiving, storing, shipping, distributing, and issuing automotive parts and merchandise within a stockroom, receiving room, shipping room or warehouse environment. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with six (6) points or less. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency conducting research on the web. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel and Word.

Conditions of Employment:
Upon selection, the candidate must (where applicable): Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties. Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings. Submit a current Motor Vehicle Administration driving record that reflects a satisfactory driving history. This position is essential. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
