Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Pre-Owned Acquisition Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will lead the sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, and acquisition of high-quality pre-owned vehicles for the dealership's inventory. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the dealership's inventory mix, profitability, and inventory-turn objectives. The ideal candidate combines strong automotive knowledge, appraisal expertise, negotiation ability, market awareness, and exceptional customer-service skills. Key Responsibilities
- Appraise customer trade-ins and vehicles offered directly for purchase.
- Acquire vehicles from customers, auctions, dealers, and approved wholesale sources.
- Evaluate vehicle condition, history, specifications, options, mileage, and marketability.
- Research current wholesale and retail market values.
- Calculate expected reconditioning costs and maximum acquisition price.
- Negotiate vehicle purchases while protecting dealership profitability.
- Maintain accurate appraisal and acquisition documentation.
- Coordinate purchased vehicles with management, service, detail, transportation and inventory departments.
- Monitor vehicles from acquisition through reconditioning and retail sale.
- Analyze aging inventory and recommend pricing, wholesale or disposition strategies.
- Develop customer, dealer, auction and community relationships that generate acuisition opportunities.
- Follow up consistently with all acquisitions leads and appraisal prospects.
- Maintain current knowledge of luxury vehicle products, market values and emerging trends.
- Support dealership sales and inventory objectives.
- Follow all dealership policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Daily performance expectations.
- Complete a minimum of 8-15 qualified vehicle appraisales per day.
- Maintain prompt follow-up on all acquisition leads.
- Generate new aquisition opportunities every day.
- Maintain accurate appraisal records.
- Monitor current wholesale and retail market conditions.
- Communicate acquisition opportunities and risks to management.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers and industry partners.
- Key performance indicators
- Performance will be evaluated based on: vehicles acquired, acquisition profitability, appraisal accuracy, reconditioning accuracy, inventory turn, aging inventory, direct-to-consumer purchases, acquisition lead conversion, follow-up activity, documentation and process compliance, compensation, compensation consists of a competitive base salary combined with performance-based incentives tied to vehicle acquisitions, profitability, inventory turn, and overall performance.
