This is an excellent opportunity for someone who knows automotive parts, enjoys building relationships, and thrives in a fast-paced dealership environment. You'll work closely with wholesale customers, retail guests, technicians, vendors, and fellow associates to make sure the right parts get to the right place, accurately, efficiently, and with exceptional service. Responsibilities of the Parts Counterman As a Parts Counterman, Wholesale Consultant, you will be an important resource for both our internal teams and external customers.Responsibilities include:
Assist retail and internal shop customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. Inform customers of companion part requirements, available specials, and relevant products to ensure they are aware of the full product line. Answer incoming phone calls and provide accurate price quotes, availability, and other parts information. Review body shop estimates to ensure ordered parts are correct and pricing aligns with the estimate. Provide a high level of service to both internal and external customers. Pull and fill parts orders from stock accurately and efficiently. Notify the Parts Manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials requiring immediate attention. Notify the Service Advisor and customer when special-order parts have been received. Follow up on back-ordered parts and communicate updates as appropriate. Replenish assigned inventory daily. Assist outside sales representatives with their orders. Ensure all internal requests for parts are properly billed to the appropriate service repair order. Receive payment from retail customers or obtain appropriate credit authorization. Ensure all charge sales are properly authorized and signed by the customer. Ensure customers receive a copy of their invoice. Process credits for returned parts, verifying the original invoice or invoice number to confirm purchase and pricing. Maintain orderly and accurate records of repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts. Proactively contact and solicit assigned wholesale accounts by phone. Maintain clean, organized, and uncluttered front and rear parts counter areas. Participate in all required and available training programs. Stay current on new products, product updates, and manufacturer information. Work with the Parts Manager to maintain and support the department's lost-sales tracking program. Build and maintain positive relationships with wholesale accounts, customers, and fellow associates. Qualifications We're looking for someone who is dependable, organized, service-minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive environment. High school diploma or GED required. One or more years of experience in an automotive parts, dealership, wholesale parts, or similar position. Valid and current driver's license with a driving record that meets company requirements. Strong customer service and relationship-building skills. Ability to accurately research and identify automotive parts. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and providing excellent service. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable working with dealership systems, parts catalogs, and related technology. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to learn, develop, and stay current on new products and procedures. Ability to successfully complete applicable pre-employment requirements, including a background investigation and drug screening.
