Job Description
We are looking for an Estimator to support pricing and quoting activities for a printing operation in Berks County, Pennsylvania. This position focuses on building reliable cost projections by reviewing job details, assessing production needs, and preparing pricing that supports sound business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong numerical ability, careful attention to detail, and the judgment to balance customer expectations with company standards.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze request details, production specifications, and supporting documents to develop precise job cost projections.
- Follow up on incomplete information and gather any additional details required to produce accurate pricing.
- Determine expected costs for labor, materials, production time, and outside services using company estimating tools and available data.
- Obtain and compare supplier pricing for paper stock, dies, outsourced finishing, and other purchased components.
- Assess production options to support decisions on whether work should be completed internally or sourced externally.
- Prepare formal quotes for customers or sales partners while ensuring pricing aligns with margin expectations and job requirements.
- Maintain organized estimate records, including specifications, supporting calculations, and vendor pricing documentation.
- Update estimates when project scope, quantities, timing, or material assumptions change.
- Review actual job results against original estimates and provide cost insights to improve future quoting accuracy.
- At least 2 years of experience in estimating, manufacturing, printing, or a closely related environment.
- Strong ability to work with costing data, calculations, percentages, and pricing analysis.
- High level of accuracy with excellent attention to detail in estimate preparation and documentation.
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines simultaneously.
- Clear communication skills and a detail-focused approach to working with customers, sales teams, and vendors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general business software, including data entry and record maintenance.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to cross-functional team discussions.
- Background in print production, product costing, invoice-related processes, or similar operational support work is preferred.
