Summary As a Special Events Supervisor at Björn's Colorado Honey, you will be a vital part of our team, helping to promote and sell Bjorn's brand honey, bee-based skincare, and CBD products at special events throughout the Front Range of Colorado. This is a dynamic, event-based position where every event is different. Locations vary from event to event, both indoors and outdoors, and work opportunities are scheduled based on our special events calendar. Some weeks or weekends may have multiple events, while others may have none. There will be the potential to pick up extra shifts at our Farmer's Markets, as needed. Event hours and shift lengths can vary significantly depending on the event schedule. Special Events Supervisors are responsible for setting up and tearing down the Björn's Colorado Honey booth, maintaining event equipment and inventory, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. Depending on the size of the event, you may work independently or work with one or more sales assistants. •This job is labor and sales intensive, most often performed independently. •Qualifications Must have open weekend availability, with some weekday availability preferred. Must be active, outgoing, upbeat, friendly, polite, and professional. (This will increase your sales and tips). Must have a valid drivers license. Must have a reliable vehicle that can accommodate a small pop-up tent, 8-foot folding table, and product inventory (honey and skincare in boxes). Strong background in customer service with a focus on enhancing customer experiences. Proven sales skills with the ability to engage customers effectively. Experience in inventory management or retail operations is highly desirable. Experience with working pop-up events or farmer's markets is highly desirable. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently, is a must. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via phone, in person and on team communication platforms. Ability to adapt to changing event locations, schedules, and staffing needs. Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently. Special Event Supervisor Responsibilities Work assigned special events, arriving in a timely manner in order to have the booth fully setup and ready to go at least 15 min. before the event begins. Set up and tear down the Björn's Colorado Honey booth according to company standards, most often independently. Clock into Gusto one hour before the event begins for load-in and setup, and open a Cash Tracking session in Shopify. Arrive at each event with your Björn's-issued cash box containing the proper setup of small bills and card reader, and have your phone and devices fully charged. Actively sell and sample all products throughout the event. Ability to be on your feet throughout full shift, including load-in, event hours, and load-out. Assist customers with product inquiries and provide knowledgeable recommendations. Engage with customers, event attendees, vendors, volunteers, and event staff in a friendly, outgoing, polite, and professional manner. Leave a note at your booth and ask a neighboring vendor to watch your booth if you need to use the restroom (bring your cash box any time you leave the booth). Close out the cash tracking session at the end of each event. This includes refilling the cash box, bundling and labeling cash, and documenting any discrepancies or cash outflows like SNAP coupons and Market Bucks. Clock out of Gusto one hour after your event ends, for breakdown and load-out. Give cash drops to the Bjorn's Colorado Honey Management Team in a timely manner, during weekly inventory pickups and equipment exchanges. Monitor inventory, and come to the Bjorn's Colorado Honey warehouse in Thornton to restock as needed, based on your event schedule and our inventory auto-refill system. Engage in periodic inventory counts and report the numbers, at the request of the Bjorn's Colorado Honey Management Team. Have a reliable vehicle that can carry a small pop-up tent, 8-foot table, and product inventory (honey and skincare in boxes).
THIS IS CRUCIAL.
Take care of all market equipment and work with Honey Headquarters team if wear and tear occurs on the tent, table, and inventory so those items can be repaired or replaced. Be able to store one week's worth of inventory at room temperature in a safe location to avoid damaging the products (apprx. 3 x 3 x 3 sqft of space). Be outgoing, upbeat, and easy to talk to. Any beekeeping knowledge is a plus, but not required. Work independently on a regular basis, while maintaining regular communication with the Björn's Colorado Honey Management Team regarding scheduling, event details, absences, questions, and inventory requests. Please note, no-call no-shows will result in automatic termination. Special Event Supervisor Pay Special Event Supervisors receive a base pay of $16/hr. Special Event Supervisors receive 10% commission on sales, up to their hourly cap of $30 (it is very common that you reach this hourly cap). Special Event Supervisors receive all tips that are transacted under their Shopify account (it is common to receive $60 to $140 in tips per day/event) (remember to use your pin). Special Event Supervisors are required to clock in one hour before and clock out one hour after their market, which covers the work they do to load into the market and load-out once it's finished. Special Event Supervisors are also eligible for $20 cash each time they come to the Honey HQ in Thornton to perform their cash drop, while also picking up inventory, at a max of one time per week. Supervisors get paid every two weeks. Training You will train alongside a seasoned Björn's Colorado Honey Supervisor at farmer's markets and/or special events. This will most likely take place on the weekend, and occur between the hours of 7:00am and 3:00pm, depending on the special events calendar and market schedule. You will learn procedures, sales techniques, booth setup, and product knowledge. Training is paid at a rate of $20 an hour. Employees do not receive tips during training. The length of training depends on each employee's performance. Employees become eligible for tips once they receive their own Shopify PIN and are approved to independently work events and/or markets. Benefits - Part time Sick Pay accrual beginning immediately upon hiring at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year. $200 Staff Product Allowance after 90 days of employment (for sales positions) $20 cash payment for each cash drop performed at Honey HQ, max once per week, when performed by designated event staff member. Colorado Secure Savings Program Roth IRA available for employee contribution; enrollment occurs twice per year. Benefits - Full time (30+ hours per week, non-seasonal) Same as part time above. Paid Time Off to employees that have been with the company for one year or more, at a rate of .0192 hours per 1 hour worked for a maximum of 40 hours per year, with a 20 hour rollover limit. Health Insurance for full-time staff starting after one month of full-time employment, with Bjorn's contributing to your premium costs starting after one year of employment (at a rate of 20% at the first year anniversary, 40% at the second year anniversary, 60% at the third year anniversary, and, finally, 80% at the fourth year anniversary).
