Leasing Counsel - Global Real Estate Company Hybrid (Century City, California) About the Role The Leasing Counsel will serve as a key legal partner to a leading retail and mixed-use real estate platform, supporting high-profile leasing transactions across a dynamic portfolio of shopping centers and mixed-use developments. This individual will work closely with leasing professionals, business stakeholders, and leadership to negotiate complex lease agreements, provide practical legal guidance, and help drive strategic leasing initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial real estate leasing experience, exceptional drafting skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, transaction-focused environment. Key Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate retail and mixed-use leases, letters of intent, amendments, assignments, subleases, and related leasing agreements. Partner closely with leasing teams throughout contract negotiations, identifying legal and business risks while developing practical solutions. Provide legal guidance on leasing-related policies, operational matters, and broader commercial real estate issues. Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives involving retail, mixed-use, and commercial real estate transactions. Required Qualifications J.D. degree and active membership in the California Bar in good standing. 4+ years of legal experience with a focus on commercial real estate leasing, retail leasing, or mixed-use development transactions. Experience gained in-house and/or at a law firm supporting real estate, REIT, retail, or commercial development clients. Knowledge of landlord-tenant law, lease administration, and commercial real estate practices.
