Job Description
Overview The internship will be a project-oriented experience. The intern will be assigned various projects during their internship, including analysis, investment research, and data retention / management. These assignments will provide the opportunity to broaden knowledge of the real estate equity and mortgage loan investment business and to demonstrate quantitative reasoning skills. The associate will have the chance to work with successful real estate professionals with visibility of senior management.
Responsibilities What you will do:
Collaborate with real estate investment professionals to understand best investment practices. Review prior recommendations and understand real estate investment practices. Attend real estate committee meetings to understand committee member focus. Prepare reports and recommendations relative to real estate equity or mortgage loan investments. Research geographic markets and property types (i.e. retail, senior housing, manufacturing) for future real estate investments. Participate in meetings with other investment professionals across the enterprise to understand how to incorporate metrics used in portfolio strategies. Perform financial analyses for new and existing real estate investments. Provide support in developing marketing presentations and performing due diligence investigations. Attend investment committee meetings where investment recommendations are presented for formal approval. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications Second or third-year Real Estate/Finance Student, or MBA student- Required Completion of one or more investment real estate appraisal courses.
- Required Willingness to complete education and development through Real Estate and/or Finance/Analysis courses.
- Required Enrolled in a university with a degree or focus in real estate investment. Secondary focus in marketing would be a plus.
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 out of a 4.0; 3.5+ preferred.
- General knowledge of the functions of accounting, finance, and investments, the underlying body of concepts that constitute the real estate investment management industry, and the application of those concepts.
- Demonstrated successful experience in problem-solving situations.
- Possesses and displays excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and complete assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis.
- Ability and desire to cultivate / acquire a unique combination of marketing, financial analysis, real estate valuation, interpersonal, customer service, communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software, including advanced functions.
- Working knowledge and experience in Argus preferred.
