Estate & Tax Planning Associate Attorney Portland, Maine Full-Time | Direct Hire |
Onsite Pay:
$120-180K depending on experience Our client, a well-established single-family office, is seeking an Estate & Tax Planning Associate Attorney to join its team. This is a unique opportunity for an attorney looking to step outside of the traditional law firm environment and gain hands-on exposure to estate planning, tax strategy, trust administration, wealth management, and sophisticated family-office services! The role will work closely with an experienced attorney and tax professional, providing strong mentorship, training, and long-term growth potential. Deep expertise in every aspect of estate planning is not required. The right candidate will have a strong foundation, an interest in sophisticated wealth planning, and the desire to learn and grow within a collaborative environment! Don't miss out on this opportunity! Responsibilities Support estate, gift, and income tax planning for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, family investment companies, and private foundations. Coordinate estate planning matters with external attorneys, CPAs, and other professional advisors. Assist with estate and gift tax return preparation and filing. Support trust administration, including accountings, distributions, and compliance with trust documents. Participate in client meetings and coordinate follow-up items and documentation. Collaborate with internal teams across financial planning, investments, and wealth management. Manage multiple matters and deadlines with a high level of accuracy, discretion, and professionalism. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school required. 2+ years of experience in estate planning, tax, trust administration, accounting, financial planning, or a related field. Strong understanding of tax law and/or tax compliance highly valued. Familiarity with trusts, wills, gift taxation, probate, and wealth-transfer strategies. Maine Bar admission preferred; candidates admitted in another state and in good standing will be considered. Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. High level of professional judgment, discretion, and attention to detail. Microsoft Office proficiency required; Excel and QuickBooks experience a plus.
