Location:
Florida (Southeast Florida preferred) This opportunity supports Chesapeake Utilities' project development team by securing land rights and stakeholder agreements necessary to deliver infrastructure projects safely, legally, and on schedule. The Land Agent will lead landowner outreach efforts, negotiate property agreements, coordinate title and ownership research, and work closely with engineering, environmental, survey, and permitting teams to support project success. This role is primarily remote, with limited travel required for complex landowner negotiations or project-specific needs.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent relevant industry experience
Required Skills:
3-5 years of experience in land acquisition, right-of-way, real estate, or land services Active Florida Notary License (required) Experience negotiating easements, rights-of-entry, temporary workspace agreements, licenses, and property purchases Knowledge of title research, ownership verification, and land acquisition processes Ability to develop and execute project-specific land acquisition plans Experience managing landowner relationships and stakeholder engagement activities Proficiency with GIS software Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills Ability to identify land acquisition risks and provide mitigation strategies Experience tracking acquisition progress and providing project status updates to stakeholders and leadership
Key Responsibilities:
Support route selection and route optimization activities Identify impacted parcels and required property rights Develop and implement land acquisition strategies for assigned projects Conduct landowner outreach and maintain positive stakeholder relationships Negotiate land rights agreements, easements, licenses, and property acquisitions Coordinate title research and verify property ownership Assist with acquisition cost estimates and project budgeting activities Monitor and manage land acquisition risks throughout the project lifecycle Coordinate activities with survey, environmental, engineering, and permitting teams Secure construction access agreements and staging area rights Manage property damage claims and restoration discussions Track critical path parcels and acquisition milestones Coordinate execution, notarization, and recording of agreements Support public meetings and community engagement initiatives Provide regular acquisition status reports to project teams and leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting utility, pipeline, transmission, or infrastructure projects Knowledge of Florida land acquisition and permitting processes Experience working within regulated utility environments Additional right-of-way or land management certifications
