Job Description

Scope of Job:
The Mortgage Post Closer is responsible for activities that occur immediately after loan closing. Incumbent prepares and ships closed residential mortgage loans for purchase to investors, adhering to specified deadlines and procedures; maintains tracking of profitability for each loan; and clears investor conditions preventing purchase. Additional requirements include recordkeeping related to construction advances on active construction loans and monitoring completion of work on loans with escrow holdbacks. Incumbent will assist with closing and servicing activities as needed. Ability to meet crucial deadlines is expected. This position is very deadline driven, must have great attention to detail and strong follow-up skills.
Primary Duties:
Incumbent receives all newly closed residential real estate files to conduct an audit of signed closing package, clear noted deficiencies, package, scan and ship within required timeframe. Maintain tracking system records for follow up. Incumbent serves as purchase coordinator for secondary market files shipped, clearing post-closing conditions along with tracking final documents for shipment. Assist as needed with obtaining mortgage insurance or guarantees from government agencies. Monitor loans with escrow holdbacks for work that needs to be completed after loan closing. Manage construction draw process on all active construction loans. This includes interaction with title companies and customers regarding draws, lien waivers and outstanding balance reconcilements. Prepare monthly construction loan status report and coordinate with bank's Facility Management team regarding inspection requirements. Work with Closer/Funder on account reconciliations for mortgage area. Monitor and assist with mortgage non-post and exception items. Coordinate workflows with Closer/Funder, assisting with closings by performing pre-closing verifications as requested by Closer/Funder. Serve as backup and overflow Closer/Funder. Assist in developing and implementing software, systems, practices and procedures which will bring consistency, maximize efficiency, increase profitability and prevent compliance errors in the Mortgage Division. Assure compliance with bank policies and procedures, all state and federal laws, agency guidelines and regulations relevant to residential loans.
Secondary Duties:
Work as a team with departmental counterparts on planning and implementing assigned projects and products. Participate on various committees and project teams as deemed appropriate by management. Attend, actively participate in organization, job specific training offered, and Quality Service programs. Adhere to all applicable Policies and Procedures of BankWest organization. Community involvement is strongly encouraged. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
2 years' experience in related field. Experience in accounting or finance, including budget experience or expertise.
Knowledge and Special Skills:
Ability to work dependently and/or independently, under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust work schedules as needed to complete job responsibilities. Ability to organize and handle multiple responsibilities while delivering quality external and/or internal Customer Service. Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with external and/or internal customers. Knowledge or ability to learn regulatory requirements pertinent to performance of specified duties in job description. Knowledge of residential real estate lending and/or industry guidelines. Ability to skillfully use a variety of application software, learn computer programs, and comprehend the program output. Adhere to Federal Privacy Standards in addition to following BankWest requirements for electronic communication and Social Engineering standards.
