Juniper Arts is an independent art gallery and gift shop in the heart of Joshua Tree. We are seeking an experienced, personable, and highly organized Gallery Sales Associate to join our small team. The ideal candidate has previous art gallery experience, strong sales and customer-service skills, an appreciation for contemporary art and design, and the ability to build relationships with both customers and artists. This is a varied, hands-on position. In addition to working with visitors and selling artwork, this person will assist the Gallery Manager with artist communications, exhibition coordination, gathering information and materials for upcoming shows, and sharing content that can be used for customer communications, marketing, and social media. Key Responsibilities Welcome and engage gallery and gift shop visitors, learn about their interests, and confidently assist with the selection and purchase of artwork and merchandise. Build relationships with customers and collectors, maintain information about their interests, and working with the Gallery Manager, following up regarding artwork, artists, exhibitions, and events. Develop strong working relationships with Juniper Arts artists and serve as a helpful and professional point of contact. Assist the Gallery Manager in coordinating incoming and outgoing exhibitions, including artist communications, artwork information, images, pricing, and other exhibition materials. Take informal photographs and short videos of artwork, artists, exhibition installations, openings, events, and other gallery and gift shop happenings. Gather and communicate information about upcoming Juniper Arts shows and events as well as relevant arts and community happenings in the Joshua Tree area to our marketing and social media team. Assist with gallery openings, special events, installations, inventory, displays, and general day-to-day gallery and gift shop operations. Process sales accurately and help maintain an attractive, organized, and welcoming gallery and gift shop. Qualifications Previous experience working in an art gallery or art-related environment strongly preferred. Gallery, fine-art, specialty retail, or other relationship-based sales experience. Genuine interest in art, artists, and design. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Comfortable developing relationships with both customers and artists. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to keep track of multiple artists, exhibitions, deadlines, and materials. Comfortable using email, shared digital files, POS systems, and other basic technology. Comfortable taking photographs and short, informal videos (content creation) with a smartphone and organizing/uploading digital content to our Social Media Managers. Proactive, dependable, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a small team. Weekend and occasional evening availability. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who loves art, enjoys people, and is both creative and organized. You should be comfortable talking with a collector about purchasing artwork, communicating with an artist about an upcoming exhibition, taking photographs or a quick video during an opening, and making sure the information and materials our marketing team needs are collected, organized, and delivered on time.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires extended periods of standing and walking and the ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the gallery. Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and assist with moving artwork, inventory, displays, tables, pedestals, and other gallery materials. Pay:

$18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 - 25.0 per week
