SENIOR SALES ASSOCIATE/KEY HOLDER
|
MONTECITO
Janessa Leoné is a lifestyle brand based in Los Angeles. The brand creates sophisticated pieces with a focus on timeless, minimal designs that are both unique and classic. Each collection is thoughtfully designed with an emphasis on quality, functionality, and enduring style. We are looking for an experienced, highly reliable Senior Sales Associate to join our Montecito retail team. This is a key-holder and store leadership position for someone who is an exceptional salesperson, takes ownership, and is comfortable serving as the on-site lead when the Retail Manager is not present. As our Retail Manager oversees both Janessa Leoné retail locations and partners closely with our HQ team, the Senior Sales Associate will play an important role in the day-to-day success of the Montecito store. This person will act as the Retail Manager's eyes and ears on the ground, helping ensure that the store consistently operates at a high standard across sales, client experience, merchandising, inventory, and daily operations. This role is ideal for someone who has progressed beyond a traditional Sales Associate position and wants greater responsibility and ownership without being responsible for the full people-management and administrative scope of a Store Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SALES & CLIENT EXPERIENCE
Deliver an elevated, personalized client experience that reflects the Janessa Leoné brand and service standards. Actively drive individual and store sales while working toward daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals. Lead by example on the sales floor, demonstrating strong selling behaviors, product knowledge, client engagement, and follow-through. Develop and maintain meaningful client relationships through thoughtful outreach, follow-up, and clienteling. Identify opportunities to increase conversion, units per transaction, average order value, and repeat business. Maintain strong knowledge of current collections, materials, product features, styling, availability, and brand storytelling. Help create a welcoming, polished, and service-oriented environment for every customer.
KEY HOLDER & STORE LEADERSHIP
Serve as primary on-site point person when the Retail Manager is not in the store. Independently open and close the store and maintain responsibility for keys, security procedures, cash handling, and opening/closing protocols. Provide day-to-day direction and support to Sales Associates during assigned shifts, helping the team prioritize customers, selling, replenishment, and operational needs. Maintain awareness of what is happening throughout the store and proactively address issues rather than waiting for direction. Escalate employee, customer, operational, inventory, or facilities issues to the Retail Manager when appropriate. Provide the Retail Manager with clear, timely communication regarding store performance, customer feedback, team observations, inventory needs, and issues requiring follow-up. Help ensure company policies, procedures, service standards, and operational expectations are consistently followed while serving as Manager on Duty. Support the Retail Manager in implementing new initiatives, processes, events, launches, and store priorities.
STORE OPERATIONS & INVENTORY
Help oversee the daily operational execution of the store, ensuring it is organized, stocked, secure, and ready for business. Perform opening and closing procedures, including POS and cash-handling responsibilities. Support receiving, processing, replenishing, transferring, and organizing inventory. Maintain a high level of inventory accuracy and immediately flag discrepancies, low-stock items, damages, or other inventory concerns. Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, transfers, returns, and other inventory-related processes. Ensure back-stock and storage areas remain organized and product is easily accessible to the team. Monitor store supplies and operational needs and communicate replenishment needs to the Retail Manager. Help troubleshoot routine POS, operational, customer service, and facilities issues and escalate when necessary. Maintain accurate completion of daily store checklists, reporting, and operational procedures.
VISUAL & BRAND STANDARDS
Maintain exceptional visual standards throughout the store, including merchandising, product presentation, cleanliness, fitting areas, displays, and back-of-house organization. Execute visual merchandising updates and product placement direction provided by the Retail Manager and HQ team. Ensure merchandise is continuously replenished and presented according to brand standards. Proactively identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and overall presentation of the store. Support store events, product launches, VIP appointments, and other retail initiatives.
PARTNERSHIP WITH THE RETAIL MANAGER
Act as a dependable extension of the Retail Manager when she is working from another store or HQ. Maintain regular communication regarding sales performance, customer feedback, operational issues, inventory, and noteworthy activity within the store. Help ensure priorities established by the Retail Manager are executed consistently by the store team. Provide thoughtful observations about what is working, where the store may need additional support, and opportunities to improve performance. Demonstrate sound judgment regarding which issues can be resolved independently and which should be escalated. This role provides day-to-day floor leadership but is not responsible for formal employee management, payroll, timecard administration, commission administration, performance reviews, disciplinary action, or other responsibilities retained by the Retail Manager.
WHO YOU ARE
3+ years of retail sales experience, preferably within luxury, contemporary fashion, accessories, beauty, or another elevated customer-service environment. Previous experience as a Senior Sales Associate, Key Holder, Lead Sales Associate, Assistant Manager, or similar position strongly preferred. A strong salesperson who genuinely enjoys building relationships with customers and driving business. Highly dependable and comfortable being trusted with responsibility for the store in the Retail Manager's absence. Demonstrates maturity, professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion. Naturally takes ownership and notices what needs to be done without requiring constant direction. Comfortable providing day-to-day direction to peers while maintaining a collaborative and respectful working style. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain operational and visual standards. Organized and able to balance selling, customer service, inventory, and operational priorities simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly when communicating store activity and issues to the Retail Manager. Comfortable learning and using POS, inventory, and retail systems. Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and peak retail periods as required. Able to meet the physical requirements of a retail environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting/moving merchandise and inventory as needed.
