We work closely with independent studios, historic workshops, and emerging makers, and our stores function as quiet, gallery-like environments where customers discover objects with lasting meaning. Overview We are seeking a thoughtful and detail-oriented Part-time/Seasonal Retail Associate to join our Santa Monica store , located on the beautiful corner of Montana Avenue . This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with craftsmanship, materials, and design-forward customers. You will play an important role in maintaining the visual and operational standards of the store while supporting a calm and welcoming customer experience. Responsibilities Welcome customers and introduce them to ARJ's collections and featured makers Share stories behind materials, techniques, and studios represented in the store Maintain gallery-style merchandising and visual presentation standards Process transactions accurately using Shopify POS Assist customers via phone and email inquiries Support receiving and organizing international shipments Monitor inventory accuracy and product organization across SKUs Contribute to exhibition changes and seasonal installations Assist with online order fulfillment when needed Requirements 1+ year experience in retail, museum store, boutique, or design environment preferred Strong interest in ceramics, objects, interiors, fashion, or material culture Comfortable working independently in a calm retail setting Strong attention to detail and product handling care Familiarity with iPad/Mac systems required Shopify experience is a plus Availability on weekends and holidays Who This Role Is Ideal For This position is a strong fit for someone who: is comfortable balancing customer experience with store operations has strong attention to detail in managing store operations and inventory enjoys working with thoughtfully made objects takes pride in maintaining a visually refined retail space Compensation $22-$28 per hour, depending on experience Opportunities for performance-based pay growth over time.
