YUBA CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENT STORE CLERK RANGE 23.5 DEFINITION
With minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks in the student store, including sales, restocking, ordering and receiving merchandise, maintaining an inventory, and handling and accounting for cash. Perform other work necessary for the continuing operations of the store.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Sale of store items, restocking of items sold, restocking of supplies used. Use a cash register to record sales. Account for money from sales. Verify stock on hand and determine quantities to order. Order, receive, and place stock on shelves or in storage. Restock soda vending machines by taking cases of soda from storage, transporting them to the machines on a cart, and placing cans into the machines. Retrieve money from the machines.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and/or
Experience:
High School diploma. Read, write, and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the duties to be performed; basic sales and stocking experience is desirable.
Knowledge of:
Basic knowledge of sales and stocking and restocking of merchandise. Must understand basic mathematical functions. Must have good organizational and communication skills.
Abilities:
Requires the ability to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively, with minimal supervision. Must be able to learn, understand and apply District rules, regulations and policies. Carry out verbal and written directions; must be able to use good judgement in changing situations. Must be able to maintain records and prepare reports. Requires the ability to communicate with students, other employees and the public in a manner which reflects positively on the department and District.
Physical Abilities:
Requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize words, letters and numbers; speech and hearing ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone. Requires general arm, hand, leg, and body coordination. Requires physical ability to stand for extended periods, to stoop, to reach and lift overhead, and frequently to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
