Position:
Stitch is a contemporary quilt shop and Bernina sewing machine dealer, and we're looking for an enthusiastic, energetic team member to join our crew! This is not your typical retail position. Our days are varied, fast-paced, and filled with fabric, sewing machines, customers, and in house projects. The right person will be curious, personable, creative, and excited to learn something new every day. You'll work alongside our team to help customers find the right products and inspiration for their next project while also learning the many behind-the-scenes tasks that keep a busy quilt shop running smoothly. What You'll Do The position is wonderfully varied and may include: Providing exceptional, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service Helping customers select fabric, patterns, notions, sewing machines, and other supplies Learning and demonstrating a variety of sewing machines Learning the basics of machine sewing, quilting, and embroidery so you can confidently assist customers Cutting fabric and preparing kits for projects and classes Receiving, organizing, pricing, and merchandising inventory Assisting with inventory management and maintaining an organized sales floor Processing sales and operating our point-of-sale system Keeping displays fresh, organized, and inviting Assisting with classes, events, and special projects Answering phones and helping customers in person, online, and by phone Working collaboratively with the entire Stitch team to keep the shop running smoothly Pitching in wherever needed — because in a small business, we're all wearing a few different hats! What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Loves working with people and has strong interpersonal skills Is friendly, approachable, patient, and genuinely enjoys helping others Is a team player who understands that everyone's contribution matters Is motivated, dependable, and willing to work Is curious and excited to learn new skills Can manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy retail environment Has strong attention to detail and takes pride in their work Is comfortable being on their feet and active throughout the workday Has sewing or quilting experience — a big plus! Has a creative mindset and enjoys making things Is comfortable learning technology, point-of-sale systems, and new equipment Can work independently once trained, while also knowing when to ask for help The Ideal Candidate You don't have to know everything when you walk through our door. In fact, we expect you won't! What matters most is that you're willing to learn. We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about sewing, quilting, creativity, and people. If you can walk into a busy shop, juggle several things at once, help a customer find the perfect fabric, learn how to thread a new machine, and still have a smile on your face, you might be exactly who we're looking for. Physical Requirements This is an active retail position. The employee will spend much of the workday standing and moving throughout the shop.
The position may require:
Standing and walking for extended periods Bending, reaching, and moving around the sales floor Lifting and carrying fabric, boxes, machines, and other merchandise
Schedule & Growth Part-time:
3 days per week Retail schedule; availability will include some weekends Training will be provided Opportunity for increased responsibilities and advancement for the right person We're a growing business, and we're interested in finding someone who wants to grow with us. As your skills and knowledge develop, there may be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities in areas such as Bernina machine sales and education, inventory management, merchandising, classes, or other areas of the business. Pay:
