The in-plant ink technician's function is to perform all technical, manufacturing, and reporting tasks pertaining to ink as required by the customer. The ink technician works inside the customer's plant, solely for that customer's ink technical needs. The in-plant may also help the customer with press related issues, maximizing efficiencies related to ink usage or press set up, cost reduction measures, or other issues as the customer requires.
Responsibilities :
Color matches and re-matches Manufacture ink batches for print jobs Press side technical assistance at the preprint and Direct print machines. Maintain customer ink inventory; Work-off/re-work old ink File ink usage reports, other reports as necessary Attend production meetings and other customer meetings as required Any other technical issues needed by customer: Ink training, ink improvements, cost reductions, etc.
Background :
Position open for in-plant ink technician to work in the Lebanon, IN facility , in the Indianapolis area. This position will be in the International Paper Ink division, reporting to the Lebanon Ink Supervisor in the Lebanon, IN facility. The International Paper Ink division provides printing inks, printing plates, and related services to flexographic packaging printers, both within International Paper and to outside customers. The in-plant ink technician will provide on-site ink manufacturing and technical service for Lebanon facility, which manufactures high quality pre-printed liner for the corrugated packaging industry.

The in-plant will also help the customer with press related issues, maximizing efficiencies related to ink usage or press set up, cost reduction measures, or other issues as the customer requires.
Specific key functions are:
Color matching and re-matching, blending ink batches for print jobs, press side technical assistance (toning colors, adjusting ink to improve print quality, assisting with Customer Approvals, etc.), maintaining customer ink inventory, re-working old ink, filing ink usage reports and other reports as necessary, attend production meetings and other customer meetings as required, any other technical issues needed by customer, such as ink training, ink improvements, cost reductions, etc.
Requirements :
High School diploma or equivalency required. At least two years experience with flexographic printing inks preferred, ideally in a customer in-plant setting. Knowledge of and previous experience with ink color matching and press side trouble shooting is preferred, and experience in pre-printed liner applications is highly desirable.
