Job Description

Second Hand Rose Consignment Stores is seeking a detail-oriented, multi-talented Consignment Store Associate to join our team. While explicit experience in the responsibilities outlined below isn't necessary, a desire to learn and work in a task-focused retail environment is required to succeed. As an associate, you will play a vital role in our daily operations—ranging from greeting consignors, evaluating and pricing inventory to managing point-of-sale transactions, executing consignor payouts, and opening/closing the daily cash drawer. Key Responsibilities & Operational Tasks1. Consignment Intake & Take-In Processing Welcome consignors, receive incoming clothing, furniture, and kids' items, and accurately complete Take-In Forms. Inspect items for quality, age, and condition; enforce store brand standards by accepting high-demand brands while screening out non-accepted brands. Collect and log store take-in fees based on item volume. 2. Inventory Tagging, Pricing & Software Entry Enter items into the Rose Consignment System , assigning appropriate categories, sizes, descriptions, and category shelf-lives (ranging from 60 to 365 days). Apply store pricing guides and automated complex fee structures for Clothing and Furniture items. Print and attach barcode labels using DYMO LabelWriter printers via Google Chrome, selecting proper label styles (standard, small, or jewelry labels). Perform inventory adjustments, SKU lookups, quantity updates, and detail alterations in Rose when required. 3. Point of Sale (POS) & In-Store Purchases Simultaneously operate Square Register POS and the Rose system to process customer sales smoothly. Verify consignor account balances in Rose to apply store credit/in-store purchases toward customer transactions. Handle split-payment options (combining store credit, cash, and card payments) and custom checkout amounts. 4. Consignor Payouts & Check Printing Process consignor account payouts (Cash, Check, or Electronic) following store settlement schedules. Issue payout receipts and print QuickBooks-compatible voucher checks directly through Rose. 5. Unsold Inventory Removal (Take-Outs) Monitor category expiration dates and conduct bulk or individual Take-Outs for expired merchandise.
Assign appropriate take-out statuses:
Remove/Donate , Return to Consignor , Transfer Ownership , or Change Location . 6. Daily Cash Management & Closing Procedures Balance cash drawers at the end of shifts. Process daily Paid In/Out records in Square POS for cash payouts and in-store credit purchases. 7. Store Standards & Safet y Maintain clean, well-organized sales floors and intake areas across departments. Adhere to company policies, including equal opportunity standards, safety protocols, and proper completion of Accident/Incident Report Forms when necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Aptitude:
Comfortable learning and navigating POS software (Square Register), inventory software (Rose), and web browsers (Google Chrome). Attention to
Detail:
Excellent eye for clothing brands, item condition, quality control, and exact data entry.
Cash Handling & Math Skills:
Proven ability to handle cash transactions, process split payments and count cash drawers.
Customer Service Excellence:
Friendly, professional communication style when interacting with consignors, shoppers, and team members.
Multitasking & Efficiency:
Able to balance front-desk, intake, inventory pricing, customer checkout, and floor organization in a fast-paced setting.
Hardware Operations:
