Overview Augusta Country Club (ACC) is a private, member-owned club dedicated to providing exceptional golf, tennis, dining, and social experience in a welcoming, historic, and safe environment. The Head Golf Professional directs all golf-related activities, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for members and their guests. This role requires a strong balance of business skills, instructional expertise, and hospitality leadership to oversee the Golf Shop, outside service staff, golf cart fleet along with tournament and league operations. Experience Required Experience Class A Membership in good standing with the PGA of America or LPGA. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience as a Head Professional or Lead Assistant at a comparable private club. Exceptional communication, diplomacy, and customer service skills. Proficiency with modern golf management software (e.g., Golf Genius, GHIN, POS systems). Demonstrated ability to work well with fellow team members, including Golf Course Superintendent, Head Chef, Dining Room Manager and Events Manager. Strong financial management, budgeting and reporting skills. Essential Responsibilities Golf Operations and Golf Shop Management
- Supervise the daily operations of the Pro Shop, practice facilities, driving range, and outside services (bag drop, cart fleet).
- Manage golf shop inventory, buying high-quality merchandise, optimizing displays to drive profitability.
- Ensure accurate billing, point-of-sale (POS) tracking, tee sheet management and diligent oversight of department operating budgets. Tournaments and Events
- Plan and execute a full calendar of member tournaments, member leagues, corporate outings, and charity events.
- Manage all event logistics, including pairings, rules of play, scoring, and prize distribution and billing.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the club's food and beverage team to ensure exceptional hospitality for golf events. Instruction and Player Development
- Develop and oversee comprehensive golf instruction programs, including private lessons and group clinics for all demographics (men, women, seniors, and juniors).
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of assistant professionals to deliver high-quality instruction.
- Enthusiastically promote the game by playing golf with members of varying skill levels. Leadership and Communication
- Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate all golf operations staff, including assistant professionals, shop help, attendants, and interns.
- Act as the primary communicator for golf activities, managing updates for the club website, club calendar, newsletters, and member handbooks.
- Actively promotes golf related activities such as tournaments, clinics and leagues.
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to coordinate tee times, course maintenance, and cart usage policies. Desired Competencies The successful candidate will demonstrate:
