Job Description

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is seeking a dependable and customer-focused ReStore Associate with an emphasis on appliance and electrical testing . This position helps ensure donated appliances, lighting, and other electrical items are safely tested and prepared for sale while also supporting the day-to-day operations of the ReStore. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with appliances and electrical items, has strong attention to detail, and enjoys working in a hands-on retail environment. This position will also assist customers, organize and merchandise donated items, maintain a clean and safe store, and support other ReStore operations as needed. Essential Job Functions Inspect and test donated appliances and electrical items to determine whether they are functioning properly and appropriate for resale. Test items such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, microwaves, lighting, and other donated electrical products using established ReStore procedures. Identify items that are damaged, unsafe, incomplete, or unsuitable for sale and communicate concerns to management. Clean, prepare, label, price, and organize tested appliances and electrical merchandise for the sales floor. Maintain an organized testing and appliance area and follow established safety procedures when working with electrical items and equipment. Assist with moving, loading, unloading, and positioning appliances and other donated merchandise. Greet and welcome customers and provide friendly, helpful customer service. Assist customers with product questions, selection, and locating merchandise. Operate the cash register and accurately process sales, returns, and exchanges as needed. Assist with stocking, merchandising, product displays, and promotional signage. Monitor merchandise and communicate inventory or restocking needs to management. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, back stock, testing, and receiving areas. Assist with store opening and closing procedures. Participate in inventory counts, loss prevention efforts, team meetings, and training. Work cooperatively with ReStore staff and volunteers to support daily operations. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Previous retail, customer service, appliance, maintenance, electrical, construction, or related experience preferred. Basic knowledge of appliances and electrical products is preferred. Ability and willingness to learn proper procedures for testing donated appliances and electrical items. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment. Ability to recognize obvious damage, defects, or safety concerns with donated merchandise. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle cash transactions. Dependable, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Flexibility to work daytime and weekend hours as needed. Because this position regularly works with appliances, furniture, and donated building materials, the employee must be able to safely lift and move merchandise and assist with larger or heavier items using appropriate equipment and/or team lifting procedures. Working Environment This position works primarily in a retail and warehouse environment and may regularly work around donated appliances, furniture, building materials, tools, and electrical items. The employee may occasionally be exposed to dust, temperature changes, and moderate to high noise levels. Schedule Part-time 4-hour and 8-hour shifts Day shifts Weekend availability may be required
