This is a hands-on retail position for someone who can do more than simply work at the cash register. We are looking for someone who can assist customers, operate our POS system, handle daily store activities, receive deliveries, stock and organize merchandise, and help manage the overall operation of the store during their shift. The ideal candidate should have previous retail or store management experience , be comfortable working independently, and be able to recognize what needs to be done without needing constant supervision. Job ResponsibilitiesCashier & POS Responsibilities The Store Associate will be responsible for working at the checkout counter and operating the store's POS system.

Responsibilities include:

Operate the POS system and cash register accurately. Process cash, credit card, and debit card transactions. Provide customers with receipts and correct change. Make sure transactions are entered correctly into the system. Maintain an organized and professional checkout area. Follow proper cash-handling procedures. Report any register or transaction problems to management. Assist customers during checkout in a friendly and professional manner. Customer Service Providing excellent customer service is an important part of this position. The employee will be expected to: Greet customers and make them feel welcome. Answer customer questions about products, prices, availability, and store items. Help customers locate products throughout the store. Listen to customer concerns and try to resolve basic issues professionally. Contact ownership or management when a customer issue requires additional assistance. Maintain a respectful and helpful attitude toward all customers. Help create a clean, friendly, and welcoming shopping environment. Store Management & Daily Operations This position also includes responsibility for helping manage the store during the assigned shift. The employee should be able to: Help oversee the day-to-day operation of the store. Make sure the store remains organized and presentable throughout the day. Monitor what is happening throughout the store instead of remaining only at the register. Make sure shelves and displays remain properly stocked. Identify tasks that need attention and complete them without waiting to be instructed each time. Monitor inventory and notify ownership when products are running low. Keep the sales floor, checkout area, and storage areas organized. Make sure merchandise is placed in the proper location. Help maintain proper pricing and product labels. Check products and report damaged or expired merchandise. Communicate any important store problems, customer issues, equipment problems, or inventory concerns to ownership. Help ensure the store continues operating smoothly throughout the shift. We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for the store , not someone who only wants to remain behind the cash register. Receiving Deliveries The Store Associate will also assist whenever merchandise or product deliveries arrive.

Responsibilities include:

Receive incoming store deliveries. Assist with unloading merchandise when deliveries arrive. Check the delivered products and make sure the shipment appears correct. Identify damaged, missing, or incorrect products and report the issue. Move delivered merchandise to the appropriate area of the store. Stock products on shelves when needed. Place extra inventory in the proper storage location. Keep boxes, packages, and delivery areas organized. Make sure delivered merchandise does not remain sitting around unnecessarily. Help maintain an organized stockroom and storage area. The employee should be comfortable moving between the cash register, sales floor, delivery area, and stockroom depending on what needs attention. Stocking & Inventory The employee will also help make sure products are properly stocked and organized.

Responsibilities may include:

Restock shelves throughout the day. Arrange merchandise neatly and in the correct location. Keep similar products properly grouped and organized. Check shelf quantities and identify products that are running low. Inform management about items that may need to be reordered. Make sure prices and labels are properly displayed. Rotate products when necessary. Check expiration dates where applicable. Remove or report damaged or expired products. Organize additional merchandise in the stockroom. Keep shelves and product displays clean and presentable. Store Cleanliness & Organization Every employee is expected to help maintain the appearance of SalamMart.

Duties include:

Keep the checkout area clean and organized. Keep aisles clear and merchandise properly arranged. Pick up boxes, packaging, or other materials after stocking. Help maintain cleanliness throughout the store. Address spills or unsafe conditions when noticed. Keep storage and delivery areas organized. Make sure customers can move safely and comfortably throughout the store. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: Previous retail, grocery store, convenience store, or store management experience. Previous cashier or POS experience. Experience dealing directly with customers. Strong customer service and communication skills. Experience stocking or organizing merchandise. Ability to handle cash accurately. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to manage several responsibilities at the same time. Good judgment when dealing with customers and daily store situations. Ability to recognize what needs to be done and take initiative. Dependable attendance and punctuality. A professional and respectful attitude. Previous store management or supervisory experience is strongly preferred. This position would be a good fit for someone who has previously worked as a Store Associate, Retail Associate, Cashier, Shift Lead, Assistant Store Manager, Grocery Associate, or Store Supervisor.

In person Physical Requirements Because this is an active retail position, the employee should be comfortable: Standing and walking for extended periods. Moving throughout the store regularly. Stocking shelves. Receiving and organizing deliveries. Bending and reaching when stocking merchandise. Moving boxes and store merchandise as reasonably required for the position.
