Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Counter Sales Associate, where your enthusiasm and expertise will drive exceptional customer experiences in a fast-paced retail environment. In this role, you will be the frontline representative, providing knowledgeable assistance, managing inventory, and ensuring smooth sales operations. Your proactive approach will help customers find the right products and solutions, fostering loyalty and satisfaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in supply chain management, automotive diagnostics, and inventory control while working with a diverse range of automotive and industrial products. Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, knowledgeable service
- Assist customers in identifying and purchasing correct automotive parts and accessories
- Use NAPA catalog systems (electronic and paper) to look up parts accurately
- Answer phones and respond to customer inquiries
- Process sales transactions, returns and special orders
- Maintain clean, organized and well stocked counter and sales areas
- Receive, stock and label inventory as needed
- Work closely with team members to meet store sales and service goals
- Follow company policies, safety procedures and loss prevention guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Automotive parts knowledge or mechanical experience strongly preferred
- Prior retail, counter sales, or customer service experience helpful
- Ability to use computers, POS systems, and parts lookup software
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods during scheduled shift
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull automotive parts and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs (with or without assistance)
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and crouch frequently
- Ability to use hands and fingers for handling small parts, operating a keyboard and using point-of-sale systems
- Ability to reach overhead and access shelving at various heights
- Ability to visually identify parts, read labels, screens and printed materials
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively with customers and team members in a retail environment
