You do not need to know everything about firearms, fishing, hunting, camping, or outdoor gear.

Seriously.

We can teach you the products.

What matters much more to us is that you enjoy working with people, are comfortable greeting customers, can learn to run a cash register, and are willing to jump in and help keep the store running smoothly.

If you have strong customer-service skills and a good attitude, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be DoingThis role is primarily focused on the front end of the store and helping create a great experience for customers.

Typical responsibilities include:

Welcoming customers when they walk through the doorRunning the point-of-sale system and accurately processing purchasesHelping customers find products or connecting them with the right team memberAnswering basic customer questionsKeeping the checkout area and sales floor clean and organizedRestocking merchandise and helping maintain displaysAnswering phonesAssisting with returns and exchangesHelping receive and organize merchandiseLearning about our products, promotions, and store policiesPitching in wherever needed as part of the Scout Outpost crewWhat We're Looking ForWe're less concerned about what you already know about outdoor products and more interested in how you work with people.

A strong candidate will:

Be friendly and approachableEnjoy talking with customersBe dependable and show up when scheduledBe comfortable learning a POS/register systemCommunicate well with customers and coworkersBe willing to learn about the products we sellNotice when something needs to be done and take initiativeWork well as part of a teamBe able to stand and walk for extended periodsBe able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Be available for weekends, evenings, and some holidaysPrevious retail or customer-service experience is helpful, but it isn't required for the right person.
