This position is responsible for running the bakery counter independently on Saturdays, providing excellent customer service, actively selling our products, and helping customers understand what makes Small Baking Company special.

Because this position works alone at the bakery, we are looking for someone who is dependable, self-directed, confident with customers, and comfortable taking ownership of the customer experience.

ResponsibilitiesWelcome customers and provide warm, attentive service.

Actively sell bakery products and make thoughtful recommendations.

Answer customer questions about our products, ingredients, sourcing, and bakery.

Share the story behind Small Baking Company and help build excitement around seasonal products, local ingredients, and new menu items.

Accurately process customer transactions.

Keep the retail counter stocked, organized, clean, and visually appealing throughout the day.

Monitor product levels and communicate important sales information, customer feedback, or product requests to the owner.

Complete light kitchen cleaning duties during slower periods.

Wash dishes and keep the dish area clean and organized.

Maintain a clean and sanitary bakery and customer area.

Complete end-of-day cleaning and closing responsibilities.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Has strong retail, hospitality, or sales experience.

Is genuinely comfortable selling, rather than simply ringing up purchases.

Is friendly, confident, outgoing, and professional.

Is a strong brand advocate who enjoys learning about a company and communicating what makes its products special.

Can work independently without direct supervision and use good judgment to be efficient throughout the day.

Is dependable and punctual. Because this is a single-person Saturday position, consistent attendance is extremely important.

Is self-motivated and able to stay productive during slower periods.

Is organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities throughout a shift.

Is comfortable working on their feet for up to 8 hours.

Has or is able to obtain a current Oregon Food Handler Card.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and can make customers feel excited about supporting Small Baking Company.

Compensation and perks:$19-$20/hour (DOE) + tipsTips (usually Saturday tips at the bakery are anywhere between $30-$60 total.
