Location:
Portland Reports to: Branch Manager Position Overview The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue through customer support, quoting, order processing, and proactive sales activities. This role works closely with outside sales, operations, and warehouse teams to ensure customers receive fast, accurate solutions for safety equipment, tools, and related products.
The goal is simple:
take care of customers, close business, and grow accounts. Key Duties & Responsibilities Sales & Revenue Growth Handle inbound sales calls, emails, and walk-in customer requests Prepare accurate and timely quotes for equipment, safety, equipment, and rental products Convert quotes into orders through follow-up and relationship management Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities on every interaction Support outside sales reps with quoting, order entry, and customer follow-up Maintain and grow assigned customer accounts Customer Service Provide product knowledge and recommendations tailored to customer needs Resolve customer issues related to pricing, availability, deliveries, and returns Build long-term customer relationships through responsiveness and reliability Act as a trusted point of contact for contractors, facilities teams, and industrial clients Order Management & Coordination Enter orders accurately into the ERP/POS system (agility) Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams on inventory, shipping, and pickups Track order status and communicate updates to customers Ensure pricing, margins, and approvals align with company guidelines Safety & Product Focus Promote SGE's safety solutions including fall protection, railing systems, skylight covers, PPE, and equipment Understand basic safety applications to help customers choose compliant solutions Support branch-level initiatives to grow safety product sales Administrative & Team Support Maintain accurate customer records and notes in CRM/ERP systems (agility) Assist with inventory inquiries and basic purchasing support when needed Participate in sales meetings, training, and product education Follow company procedures for quoting, pricing, and customer engagement Qualifications 2+ years of inside sales, counter sales, or customer service experience (distribution, construction, or industrial preferred) Strong communication and organizational skills Comfortable working in fast-paced, team-oriented environments Ability to prioritize multiple tasks without dropping the ball Basic computer skills and experience with ERP/CRM systems preferred Knowledge of safety products or construction materials is a plus, not mandatory Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly or salary pay (based on experience), some overtime may be required.
