We're not looking for another machinist. We're looking for someone who wants to learn to lead a team — and is willing to earn it from the floor up. Base Lab Tools makes precision optical equipment for customers like NASA, SpaceX, and universities across the country. We've grown from 5 people to 11 in three years, and we're still growing. Right now, nobody runs our production floor day to day. That's the job you'd be training for.

How it works:

You start on the floor, same as any new hire, and master the fundamentals — hand finishing, crating, assembly. Once you've genuinely mastered that level, you branch: you build working knowledge of our CNC routers, and at the same time you go through a structured leadership curriculum — how we set standards, run audits, and give real feedback. Master the floor work, complete the training, and you become our Manufacturing Team Lead, running daily operations for the shop.

What we need from you:

Strong mechanical aptitude — you're comfortable learning hands-on work Some leadership or coaching experience, in any form — team captain, shift lead, military, whatever it was Real interest in teaching and leading people, not just doing the work yourself No experience with our specific products required — we'll train you Pay starts at $16/hr and increases as you complete each stage, with a meaningful step up at promotion to Team Lead.
