Building Materials Sales Representative Job Description Our company is a rapidly growing supplier of premium building materials serving contractors, developers, landscape professionals, masons, concrete contractors, and homeowners throughout Southern California. We are committed to exceptional customer service, competitive pricing, and expert product knowledge. Position Summary The Building Materials Sales Representative is responsible for generating new business, maintaining customer relationships, preparing estimates and quotations, managing projects from bid through delivery, and becoming a trusted resource for contractors and builders. Candidates without direct building materials sales experience will not be considered. Minimum Qualifications 3-5 years of proven sales experience in the building materials industry. Experience with a building supply company, landscape supply, masonry supplier, concrete products supplier, hardscape distributor, lumber yard, or construction materials distributor. Existing contractor relationships preferred. Required Product Knowledge Concrete pavers, clay pavers, retaining wall systems, CMU block, brick, natural stone, manufactured stone veneer, coping, wall caps, ready-mix and bagged concrete, mortar, cement, grout, sand, aggregate, gravel, base rock, decomposed granite, mulch, decorative rock, topsoil, PVC pipe and fittings, drainage products, rebar, wire mesh, sealants, construction adhesives, and related contractor supplies. Responsibilities Generate new business through prospecting, jobsite visits, networking, and referrals. Build and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, and developers. Prepare accurate bids, estimates, and quotations. Recommend products based on project requirements. Follow up on quotes and close sales. Coordinate deliveries with warehouse staff. Manage customer accounts from start to finish. Meet or exceed monthly sales goals. Stay current on pricing, products, and industry trends. Desired Skills Strong communication, negotiation, estimating, and closing skills; ability to read plans (preferred); organized, self-motivated, customer-focused, and proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM software. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
