This is a senior-level position for an electrical engineer with significant experience in the MEP consulting engineering industry who is ready to take responsibility for the technical direction, management, and continued growth of our Electrical Department. The successful candidate will lead and mentor our electrical engineering and design staff, oversee project delivery and quality control, manage key client relationships, and take an active role in business development and the continued growth of the firm. This position offers a strong opportunity for a senior professional who is interested in taking on increasing responsibility and playing a meaningful role in the long-term direction of the firm. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities of the Electrical Department Lead include, but are not limited to: Provide technical leadership and overall management of the Electrical Department. Manage, mentor, and develop electrical engineers and designers while helping establish workload priorities and staff assignments. Oversee the design of building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power, generators, UPS systems, fire alarm, and communications systems. Perform senior-level technical reviews and QA/QC of electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents. Serve as Project Manager and/or senior technical lead on projects, with responsibility for project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and overall delivery. Manage and maintain relationships with architects, owners, developers, contractors, and other consulting professionals. Serve as a primary client contact and help ensure strong communication, responsiveness, and overall client satisfaction. Participate in business development activities, including maintaining and expanding existing client relationships and developing new clients and project opportunities. Participate in preparation of proposals, project scopes, fee development, interviews, and contract negotiations. Coordinate electrical work with BSEG's mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and other engineering disciplines. Participate in construction administration, including review of submittals, response to RFIs, field observations, and resolution of construction-related issues. Assist firm leadership with departmental planning, staffing, productivity, profitability, and strategic growth. Project experience may include commercial, multifamily residential, senior living, educational, institutional, hospitality, healthcare, retail, mixed-use, industrial, and other building types. The Person The ideal candidate will have: 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering for buildings, preferably within an MEP consulting engineering firm. Significant experience designing and managing electrical building systems. Prior experience managing, supervising, or mentoring a team of engineers and designers. Strong project management experience, including management of project budgets, schedules, staffing, and deliverables. Strong technical background with demonstrated experience performing QA/QC and senior-level design review. Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and serving as a primary client contact. Experience with business development, client retention, and development of new project opportunities. Experience preparing proposals, scopes of work, and engineering fee estimates. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with architects, owners, developers, contractors, and other members of a project team. Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is strongly preferred, but BSEG will consider candidates with significant relevant experience and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
