Job Description

Description The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety, security, and smooth operation of the airport by monitoring protocols, identifying threats, conducting inspections, and providing customer service while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and using sound judgment under general supervision. Examples of Duties The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Monitor and enforce airport protocols, directives, and regulations to ensure a secure environment. Identify, assess, and respond to potential threats or suspicious behavior. Monitor airport security doors and report any breaches or irregularities. Investigate unattended vehicles and other potential security risks. Conduct merchandise and vehicle inspections to prevent prohibited items from entering secure areas. Screen airport employees to verify security clearance and access levels. Provide customer service and assistance to passengers, tenants, and other airport users. Perform regular foot patrols to maintain a visible security presence. Stay current on emerging threats (e.g., bomb threats, active shooters) through ongoing training. Accurately document and report security incidents to airport authorities and law enforcement. Persuade or influence individuals to comply with airport rules, regulations, and safety standards. Performs related work as assigned. Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent. No prior experience or a short demonstration of one month and up to and including one year of related experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. Supplemental Information All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
