Thrift Store Associate (Part Time) Chattanooga Room in the Inn - 5.0 East Ridge, TN Job Details Part-time $14 - $15 an hour 21 hours ago Benefits Employee discount Flexible schedule Qualifications Serving Retail customer service procedures Computer operation Teamwork Basic math High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Job Summary The Thrift Store Associate supports the store's day-to-day functions including managing customer and Point of Sale interactions, sorting items, stocking the sales floor, accepting donations, and serving customers. This role is an active and engaged presence on the floor, contributing to a welcoming customer experience and a well-organized, efficiently run store. As a 501(c)3 organization, CRITI relies on public support and this position supports our ongoing fundraiser - Chattanooga Room In The Inn Thrift Store. Employees work between the hours of 9am-6pm Monday through Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday. Availability and flexibility during these hours is expected for this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greet every customer warmly and promptly upon entry and maintain an active, engaged presence on the sales floor throughout each shift Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires Compute sales prices, total purchases, and receive and process cash or credit card payments Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-ready sales floor including fitting rooms, register area, and all store spaces Sort, price, tag, and stock donated goods and assist in maintaining seasonal merchandise rotation Process donations in a timely manner in accordance with established store standards Support and assist volunteers on the floor in alignment with store expectations and procedures Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices May count down the register and reconcile cash at the beginning or end of a shift in accordance with established cash handling procedures May serve as keyholder and open or close the store independently as needed Uphold and model CRITI's customer experience standards and core values at all times Identify and communicate operational needs or concerns to the Store Manager or Assistant Manager proactively Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum one year of customer service experience Commitment to the CRITI mission Experience in retail preferred Reliable and trustworthy with the ability to handle store responsibilities independently when needed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Warm, engaging interpersonal style with a genuine commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience Ability to take initiative and stay productively engaged during slow periods without direction Ability to work independently and follow established processes consistently Open-minded, collaborative attitude and willingness to support the broader team Basic computer and math skills Ability to lift fifty pounds and consistently move, talk, hear, bend, kneel, grab, climb, crouch, and stand for long periods of time Work Environment Work is carried out in a thrift store where various items in various conditions are donated. You may come in contact with donated items that are dirty, mildewed, smelly, wet, smoke damaged, or otherwise not in favorable condition such as urine soaked, bug infested, etc. There may be some exposure to allergens and health considerations may need to be taken. Pay:
$14.00 - $15.00 per hour

How would your last/current manager describe you? Employees work between the hours of 9am-6pm Monday through Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday.
