Job Description

The City of Southlake is a place where we come together to enrich the quality of life for those who live, work, and play here. We strive to exceed expectations by delivering memorable experiences, world-class services, and a thoughtfully planned, well-maintained City. The Southlake Way inspires us to deliver excellent services with respect, creating positive and lasting impressions. Learn more about our values. Our professionals are the most important resource in our service commitment to our customers. We nurture a progressive environment where challenging, empowered, and purposeful work is celebrated. The Aquatics Specialist serves as a key leader within the Aquatics team, providing an elevated level of responsibility beyond traditional lifeguarding to help ensure the safe, consistent, and effective operation of the aquatic facility at The Marq Southlake. This position provides hands-on leadership on the pool deck, supports the hiring, training, scheduling, and development of part-time and seasonal aquatics employees, and helps ensure staff are prepared to meet the City's expectations for safety, service, and performance. As a senior presence within daily operations, the Aquatics Specialist actively monitors the facility, reinforces policies and safety standards, provides direction and support to aquatics staff, and addresses operational or patron concerns as they arise. In the absence of the Aquatics Supervisor, the position provides direct oversight of part-time and seasonal employees and helps maintain continuity of operations. The Aquatics Specialist also plays a critical role in emergency preparedness and response, taking immediate and appropriate action during emergencies and providing lifesaving care and treatment until emergency medical services arrive. Through strong leadership, sound judgment, and consistent engagement with patrons and employees, this position directly contributes to a safe, welcoming, and high-quality aquatics experience for the Southlake community while supporting the broader goals of the Recreation Division.
