Overview We are seeking a reliable, customer-oriented weekend Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be the face of the Shop by Potters Union - helping customers find the right tools, processing transactions, and maintaining an organized, well-stocked floor. Experience or interest in pottery, is highly preferred!
Key Responsibilities Customer Service:
Greet customers, answer questions about products (clay bodies, glazes, tools), and provide a friendly shopping experience. Assist and orient customers coming in for bisque painting or one-time handbuilding workshops.
Point of Sale:
Operate the register, process payments accurately, and handle returns or exchanges.
Inventory & Merchandising:
Unpack shipments, stock shelves, organize heavy clay inventory, and ensure display areas are clean and presentable.
Order Fulfillment:
Assist with picking and packing orders for curbside pickup.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a pottery studio environment is preferred.
Ceramics Knowledge:
Basic familiarity with pottery, clay types, glazes, tools, or kiln firing is a major plus.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift and carry heavy items frequently (bags of clay and boxes of glaze can weigh up to 50 lbs).
Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills and a helpful attitude.
Schedule Availability:
Ability to work weekends and select holidays as needed.
