Job Description

Job Summary:
The Fabrication Lead provides area leadership and direct supervision while serving as the lead worker to Fabrication crew members on shift. Fabrication utilizes Press Brakes, Lasers, Turret Punch, Saw, and CNC Milling Machine. The Lead receives limited direction from Manufacturing Manager and Director of Operations, develops work plans, training procedures, cross-training initiatives, and process improvements by combining long-term company strategies with specific assignments and resolves most problems independently. The Lead is responsible for the quality and quantity of all work in the Fabrication area and is expected to follow Six Sigma and 6s principles and constantly monitor and help control labor and material costs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary : Responsible for on-time completion of manufacturing schedule. The Lead will assign work to all department employees and plan workflow according to production capabilities and schedule. Ensures that production team is aware of day to day production output expectations. Manage work order closures and inventory control transactions. Manage workload and make staffing or hours proposals to management. Interface with the planning department to determine schedules for shift production and material and labor constraints. Report on Key Performance Indicators at towers and communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic quarterly and annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables. Identify and report non-conforming material to quality department on a daily basis, using proper company forms such as but not limited to MRR's scrap log forms, and ECR's. Monitors and enters scrap material accumulation into the ERP system. Keeps team members informed about company rules, regulations, policies, and objectives. Upholds work rules, assists and counsels employees, and initiates disciplinary measures as needed. Work with engineering or submit ECR change to resolve any drawing and design issues. Upholds work rules, assists and counsels employees, and initiates disciplinary measures as needed. Monitors all work-in-progress and spot-checks completed jobs to ensure that specifications are met. Advises Planning and Management on Fabrication area issues or delays. Collaborates with the team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas. Make recommendations on production methods, efficiency improvements and quality improvements. Troubleshoots all Fabrication area equipment and machinery problems; directs repairs; assists in identifying additional equipment needs. Ensures that the tools in the department are properly calibrated. Ensures full adherence to 6S practices at all times. Trains (or oversees training of) all employees to maintain staff proficiency in all area tasks. Undertake continuous training and development. Develops cross-functional staff by rotating & training employees at least 3 deep at all positions. Resolves conflicts that arise among team members and/or other employees. Ensures that work areas, equipment and other tools of the trade are clean and properly maintained. Ensures that the necessary equipment, tools, PPE, and supplies are available and in working order to complete assignments. Works in a safe manner at all times, ensures that safety rules are followed without exception and participates fully in any and all Company safety programs. Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other company policies and procedures. Lead departments daily safety stretching and daily kick off meetings. Performs root cause analysis and resolves problems. Carry out incident and accident reporting in a timely manner. Consistently promotes high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them. Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure an effective interface is maintained. Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEA's ISO and Quality standards. Physical Demands:
Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 100 (infrequently), 50 (frequently). Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting upper body; occasional climbing or sitting. Working at heights off the ground up to: 15 feet.
Vision requirements:
Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.

Company-supplied, safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves and ear protection.
Position Requirements:
Key skills, abilities and knowledge: Ability to communicate and work with others and lead immediate subordinates. Ability to organize and direct work activities in a fast-paced, shop environment. Working knowledge of the standard practices and methods of fabrication. Ability to read and understand shop drawings and blueprints. Knowledge of fabrication equipment, material characteristics and structural fundamentals. Skill in using and maintaining fabrication equipment and related tools of the machines. Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices. Basic knowledge of PC programs,
Excel, Word and Outlook Experiential:
Ten or more years of fabrication experience, minimum of 5 years as a lead/supervisor in a high mix low volume manufacturing environment.
Educational:
High school diploma or GED.
Certificates, Licenses:
