Job Description

Overview The Head Golf Professional is responsible for the overall operation of the golf shop and golf operations, including staff supervision, member and guest services, tournament and event coordination, merchandising, and instruction programs. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all golf-related activities. It ensures an exceptional experience for members and guests while supporting the club's financial and operational goals. Experience Required Qualifications
  • PGA Class A membership (or actively pursuing) required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of golf operations experience, including supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of golf shop merchandising and retail management
  • Budgeting, inventory management, and business-management skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational planning, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
  • Experience in written and oral business communications (ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Google platforms, and other applications)
  • Proficiency with tee sheet/POS systems, other golf operation systems (e.g., Golf Genius, ForeUp)
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and other hours necessary to lead a seasonal golf club operation
Essential Responsibilities Staff Leadership:
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate pro shop staff and outside service staff
  • Develop staff schedules to align with member play patterns and event needs
  • Foster a culture of hospitality, professionalism, and teamwork
Member & Guest Services:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, guests, and the local golf community
  • Handle member inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally
  • Promote member engagement through clinics, leagues, and social golf events
Tournament & Event Management:
  • Plan, coordinate, and run member tournaments, guest days, and outside events
  • Manage handicap services and tournament scoring/pairings
  • Coordinate closely with food & beverage and grounds staff for seamless event execution
Merchandising & Retail:
  • Manage golf shop inventory, purchasing, pricing, and vendor relationships
  • Set and monitor merchandising goals; analyze sales performance
  • Maintain visually appealing retail displays aligned with seasonal trends
Instruction & Player Development:
  • Oversee and/or personally deliver golf instruction programs (private lessons, clinics, junior programs)
  • Develop programming to grow participation among members and their families
Financial & Administrative:
  • Responsible for the financial and operational performance of the golf shop operations and golf services
  • Ensure all financial goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Responsible for the development and preparation of budget, including forecasting and review of golf operation revenues and expenses on a monthly and annual basis
  • Track and report on revenue, rounds played, and shop performance metrics
  • Ensure systems controls are in place to safeguard assets, revenues, and resources
