Job Description
Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the District Operations Manager, the Store Manager in Training (SMIT) participates in a structured training program designed to prepare them for promotion to Store Manager. The SMIT will learn all aspects of store operations, leadership, and business management while demonstrating the ability to uphold company standards, policies, and values.
This position serves as a developmental and probationary role, during which the individual will be evaluated on their leadership potential, operational competence, and commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and store performance. The SMIT is expected to actively participate in hands-on learning, shadow experienced leaders, and assume increasing levels of responsibility throughout the training period.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Training & DevelopmentComplete a structured training curriculum covering operations, leadership, customer service, inventory management, and complianceShadow Store Managers, Area Managers, and key personnel to gain insight into best practices and company processesDemonstrate proficiency in company systems, including S2K, EPOS, and time clock functionsParticipate in performance evaluations to assess readiness for promotion to Store ManagerApply training knowledge in day-to-day operations while receiving guidance and feedback from supervisorsExhibit leadership qualities, initiative, and the ability to learn from coaching and constructive feedbackCustomer EngagementLearn and model the companys standards for superior customer serviceSupport and guide Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) in providing consistent, friendly, and efficient serviceAssist in monitoring customer feedback, satisfaction scores, and service quality metricsDevelop the ability to effectively handle customer concerns and ensure a positive resolutionStore OperationsGain proficiency in all aspects of daily store operations, including opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and vendor relationsAssist in maintaining store cleanliness, visual appeal, and product organization to ensure a welcoming environmentEnsure compliance with company policies, cash control procedures, and operational guidelinesLearn to oversee labor scheduling and monitor payroll to maintain staffing within budgetary requirementsFood & Beverage HandlingObtain and maintain active Management Food Safety Handling Certification as required by state regulationsLearn and enforce proper food safety, sanitation, and product handling procedures for all store employeesAssist in training and monitoring team members to ensure compliance with all health and safety standardsInventory ControlParticipate in inventory processes, including receiving, stocking, transfers, and reconciliation of discrepanciesLearn to manage and document inventory accurately through the back-office systemSupport the evaluation of inventory levels and implement best practices to minimize shrinkLeadership & Personnel ManagementAssist the Store Manager and District Operations Manager in supervising, training, and motivating store employeesParticipate in recruiting, onboarding, and employee development activitiesLearn to conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide feedback to team membersPromote a positive work environment built on teamwork, communication, and accountabilityCompliance & ReportingEnsure full understanding of company policies, operational procedures, and safety standardsSupport store audits and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company regulationsComplete all required reports, documentation, and training modules in a timely and accurate mannerEducation and Work ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelors degree in Business, Management, or related field preferredMinimum 13 years of experience in retail, food service, or related customer-facing environmentPrior supervisory or lead experience strongly preferredDemonstrated interest and aptitude for leadership and store operationsValid drivers license and reliable transportation requiredSkill SetStrong leadership potential and desire to advance into a management positionExcellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to learn complex systems and proceduresProven ability to work independently while following direction and accepting feedbackStrong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environmentBasic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and retail POS systemsCommitment to safety, professionalism, and company value.Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
