The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves managing inventory, supervising staff, and ensuring the department runs efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The Produce Manager will play a key role in merchandising, pricing, and promoting fresh produce to maximize sales and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the produce department team, including hiring, training, and developing staff to ensure excellent performance. Manage inventory control, including ordering, stocking, and rotating produce to minimize waste and ensure freshness. Oversee pricing strategies and merchandising to optimize sales and enhance store presentation. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and sanitation standards within the department. Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. Coordinate with suppliers for purchasing fresh produce and negotiating favorable terms. Monitor sales trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly to meet customer demand. Conduct regular audits of stock levels, quality, and cleanliness of the produce area. Assist with administrative tasks such as payroll, bookkeeping, budgeting, and recordkeeping related to the department. Implement marketing initiatives to promote produce specials and seasonal items. Experience Proven management experience in retail grocery or similar environment, preferably in produce or perishable goods. Strong leadership skills with experience supervising teams in a retail setting. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory, pricing, and merchandising effectively. Experience with POS systems, inventory management software, and retail math principles. Knowledge of purchasing procedures, vendor negotiations, and supplier relationships. Demonstrated ability in customer service, communication skills, and conflict resolution. Familiarity with retail sales strategies, marketing techniques, and store management practices. Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases.
