Works with the Assistant Store Manager to maintain the operations of the produce and bulk departments including scheduling, staffing, training, customer service and sanitation processes. Works with the Assistant Store Manager and General Manager to ensure department and produce oversight. Work towards ensuring the Co-op's mission. Adhere to the Co-op's code of conduct.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Act as Manager on Duty, as needed, in absence of the GM or Assistant Store Manager Ensure all staff are providing "World Class Customer Service" Ensure thorough training and development of department clerks Provides direction and guidance for store operations, including directing clerks in all departments Provides resolutions to customer (internal and external) concerns and problems, documenting notable incidents. Ensure safety throughout the store for staff and customers Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the store's equipment, retail floor, and staff spaces Develop and maintain a strong product knowledge Maintain product inventory through ordering, receiving, pricing, and placement Follow FDA regulations and COOL (Country of Origin Labeling) requirements Maintains good merchandising practices including participating in resets and cross merchandising Monitors invoices to maintain accurate COGS (Cost of Goods), prices, and margin Participates in monthly and quarterly inventory counts and reviews Utilizes department reports to make product assortment and price adjustment decisions Work with Assistant Store Manager and POS Lead to: Ensure sales goals are met Ensure margin goals are met Ensure pricing audits Review price comparisons to determine EDLPs (every day low price) Coordinate broker buys and ensures excellent product selection Review the needs of subcategories
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years retail supervisory or management experience, or equivalent. Coop and / or natural foods experience preferred Minimum 2 years in produce department, working with organic produce is preferred Able to work a flexible schedule to support business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Dependable attendance is required. Ability to provide friendly, professional external and internal customer service in a fast-paced environment Ability to calmly and professionally handle multiple demands, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines Able to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations Ability to work effectively independently as well as within a team Ability to communicate well with others Willingness and ability to meet the changing needs of the job Computer literacy required
